Q2 2025 was one of our biggest quarters yet, and we're not being modest about it. We focused on three things that matter: making AI work the way you think, delivering data you can trust, and fixing workflows.

In short, we’ve got custom AI analysis that reads your mind, Google Play data that finally matches your console, and a Reply Kit that puts everything in one place - alongside a ton of other goodies. Here's what we shipped.

April

Semantic Analysis for everyone

We democratized our semantic analysis because keeping it locked behind higher tiers was silly. The Reviews feed now displays semantic sentiment data (positive, negative, mixed, neutral) for Essential users, with Team users receiving additional semantic tags such as "Bugs," "Pricing," and other important themes. However, access to the comprehensive Semantic Analysis page with complete data remains exclusive to Enterprise users.

AI Summary comparison

This one's for every developer who's ever shipped an update and wondered if it helped or made things worse. AI Summary Comparison lets you compare user sentiment across different periods with surgical precision.

Here's what it does for you:

  • Before/after analysis: See exactly how that bug fix changed user sentiment
  • Release impact measurement: Track whether your new feature landed well or bombed
  • Stakeholder-ready reports: Generate insights you can share with leadership
  • Trend spotting: Catch sentiment shifts before they become crises

Access it from the Home Hub or directly in Reviews feed. No complex setup, no learning curve.

May

Two-Factor Authentication

Email-based verification, optional for now. Why email instead of apps? Because it works, it's simple, and you're not juggling another authenticator. Note: OAuth users can't use this yet.

Custom AI topics

This is the big one. Instead of generic AI summaries, you now define exactly what you want analyzed. Working on login issues? Type "login problems." Concerned about pricing feedback? Enter "pricing complaints."

The AI finds every relevant review and gives you a focused analysis on that specific topic. You'll never wade through generic insights hoping to find what you need again.

AI Replies improvements

We enhanced how AI Replies handle your instructions. The new system treats your rules as law - no more anything in between.

Key improvements:

  • Your instructions get applied separately, ensuring they stick
  • Tell it "Always reply in Spanish" and it will, regardless of review language
  • Character limit jumped from 500 to 1,000
  • Randomly formatted responses are history

Google Play rating clarity

We solved the "why don't these numbers match?" problem by clearly labeling data sources. Public data comes from the Google Play store page. Console data comes from your developer dashboard. Simple separation, clear labels, zero guessing.

June

Reply Kit: one place for everything

We got tired of watching users hunt through different menus for reply tools, so we built Reply Kit. One hub for Templates, Tags, and AI Custom Instructions. Everything you need for review management, finally in one place.

What this means for your workflow:

  • AI Instructions have their own dedicated section
  • Everyone works from the same toolset
  • New team members find everything instantly
  • Sets up our upcoming AI Knowledge Base integration

Google Play In-App Events

We already supported App Store events. Now Google Play events work exactly the same way. Event names, descriptions, dates, media. Everything you need to track your promotional campaigns.

Particularly powerful for gaming apps running seasonal events or limited-time offers. View upcoming, active, and past events directly on your App Page, organized by country availability.

Country-specific Google Play Console data

We expanded Console integration to include country-specific ratings beyond just worldwide averages. The numbers now match your Google Play Console exactly down to the decimal.

We collect:

  • Daily user rating counts by country
  • Default Google Play ratings by country
  • Trend data over time
  • Exact Console number matching

One-click language correction

Our language detection is good, but not perfect. Nobody can claim to have no mistakes when it comes to something as fluid and complex. Thus, when it's wrong, you can now fix it with one click. Click the detected language, select the correct one, done. Changes apply everywhere: automation, reports, analytics, the works.

Only available for apps with connected sources, ensuring you're the app owner making corrections.

The little things that matter

June wrapped up with quality-of-life improvements that sound small but save hours:

  • "Copy table" button for instant Excel/Sheets export of Executive Report data
  • "Custom reporting" is now "Benchmark report" for clearer naming
  • Predefined tag color options for visual consistency

The one thing we had to axe

Microsoft Reply to Reviews is dead, unfortunately. That is, it will be dead soon. Microsoft discontinued its API, and recent authentication changes made it impossible to maintain. Mind you, that’s just the Reply to Reviews functionality. Everything else is still going.

We’ll keep trying to make it work and keep you posted on how it goes.

Afterword

Let’s do a short recap: custom AI topics mean you get insights on what you're working on. Console data matching means you can trust our numbers completely. Reply Kit means your team stops wasting time hunting for tools. Enhanced AI Replies mean your responses sound like you wrote them.

Better insights, faster workflows, and data you can stake decisions on.

That's Q2. Thank you!

FAQs

How does AppFollow's custom AI topic analysis help developers get actionable insights?

AppFollow's custom AI topics let you analyze exactly what you're working on instead of generic categories. Type "login issues" or "pricing complaints" and the AI finds every relevant review, giving you focused insights on that specific problem.

Why is AppFollow's Google Play Console data integration more accurate than other tools?

AppFollow pulls data directly from your Google Play Console and matches the numbers exactly down to the decimal point. We clearly separate Console data from public store data, so you know exactly where each metric comes from. Daily collection of user ratings and default Google Play ratings by country means you can verify our accuracy against your own dashboard. Other tools estimate or scrape. We integrate directly with your actual data source.

Can AppFollow's Reply Kit improve team productivity for app review management?

Reply Kit consolidates Templates, Tags, and AI Custom Instructions into one hub, ending the menu-hunting that wastes time. Instead of jumping between settings pages, everything's in one place with AI Instructions getting their dedicated section. Teams report faster onboarding for new members and better alignment since everyone works from the same toolset. It's designed to eliminate the "where did I put that template?" moments that slow down review response workflows.
