DoorDash was always the #2 food delivery service on my phone. I resented the way they treated their drivers, but they were the only way to get certain restaurants in my area. But after what happened tonight, I’ll be uninstalling their app. Apparently, if your order is cancelled, the app doesn’t notify you. You have to have the spontaneous inspiration to go digging through your email to find where they emailed you a cancellation notice. They do not include an explanation when they cancel your order. Meanwhile, the app will keep telling you the order is on its way until you give up, at which point it will deny you ever placed the order. Furthermore, DoorDash is apparently in the habit of not refunding the original payment method when forces outside your control cancel your order for you. Instead, they give you an account credit. Which is a great way to trick hungry and disappointed people into immediately re-spending the money on another order. But it’s also completely useless if they don't deign to notify you that they cancelled your order until every other restaurant in town has closed. As it stands, I’ll spend that credit so that DoorDash doesn’t get to pocket my money and give me nothing, but you can bet this app’s coming off my phone once that’s been dealt with.
So I’ve seen signs at many of my favorite locations that they deliver with door dash, so I have it a go. Found my favorite pizza shop that doesn’t offer delivery but now they use door dash. I went on the app to place my order. First what I did not like was that I wasn’t able to pick just a pepperoni pizza. I was obligated to choose a “topping” which I always thought pepperoni was a topping but guess I was wrong. I ended up having to choose from a list of 5 items which none I liked but could only bare one “bacon”. We are not bacon lovers but an occasional piece here and there isn’t going to hurt. I could not choose to only pick half with bacon so I had to get the whole thing with bacon which we ended up picking off most of the pieces. Secondly there was no drink option not sure if that’s because they don’t want to carry a beverage (2 liter bottle). Lastly it says you get “FREE” delivery for the first time but what’s the point of FREE DELIVERY when you still get charged a service fee in addition to having to leave a tip. So $51 dollars later for a large pizza, wings and mozzarella sticks I must say that as much as a convenience it is to have my favorite pizza delivered I will be picking up next time so I can get exactly what I want and not what they want me to pick. This will most likely be the last time I use this service. Bad enough eating out is expensive it cost also $20 more to have it delivered.
First of all, if you haven't order a food yet make sure you use the coupon "VoJ0U0" to get $20 off your first food order!! Enter it right before you request a food. Go to the Payments tab in the app and enter the coupon there. Might as well try it out since it probably won't cost you a thing!! The app is simple, easy to use and intuitive by design, giving you important info like the driver's face, phone number, and car make and model. It's amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button!!! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Doordash is definitely cheaper than your average delivery service. After all this, I don't see why you would ever use a other service again. The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my order and I didn't have to say anything more than a short comment on my app feedback to get a full refund. I'm very happy and I hope Doordash continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Doordash much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away!!!!
First of all, the app is way too slow to load. Secondly, even when I did get it to load, whenever (by which I mean, “EVERY TIME”) I tried to add an item to my cart, the app gave an error message suggesting that the item couldn’t be added to my cart—which was a bald-faced lie because it turns out that those items WERE getting added to my cart. This led to my third problem; whenever I tried to remove one of the four orders of enchiladas that the app had tricked me into putting in my cart, the app got stuck on a loading wheel. Through a tedious process of going back a page and clicking on “My Cart” repeatedly, I was finally able to remove the extra items and add the item that I wanted to (after sitting through the aforementioned load times and BS error messages). Then, when I tried to checkout, I got an error message that just read, “Oops.” I kid you not. After confirming that this error message was telling the truth, i.e. that my order had not gone through, I tried again until, by some miracle, the order went through. Or so I thought, because as I was in the middle of writing this review, I got a call from DoorDash saying that my order was cancelled because of problems on the restaurant’s end. Luckily, they offered a full refund. I’ll give them a second chance, in case they weren’t full of it, and the problems were caused by the restaurant (I’ve read online reviews that strongly suggest otherwise), but I would not recommend that anyone else give them a first.
To whom ever it may concern, I had waited for over an hour and a half to two hours for my food before I fell asleep. I did already understand that it was going to be a long wait because of the event going on near my location, but what ended up happening was not great. Initially, someone by the name of James B was supposed to retrieve my food and deliver it to me. However, as I waited for last few minutes until the food was supposed to be at my door, within the last ten minutes or so, my deliverer changed without even notifying me, and I personally think that is an absolute inconvenience, and resulted in horrible customer experience, especially when it will significantly change your delivery time. After noticing the change in deliverers, I then found out that I would have to wait another hour to hour and a half. By that point, I was irritated and frustrated because I was really looking forward to that meal and was also extremely tired. I would’ve wished that I could’ve received either a full or partial refund, because my night definitely let down. If o would’ve known this could’ve happened, I would’ve just ordered through elsewhere. And how in the initial email are you going to tell customers that they can respond to that email, “ Please don't hesitate to respond to this email if you have any questions or concerns.” Then, once we hit send all of a sudden we can’t respond to that email..... I’ll be removing this app from my device.
