VidAngel

I love vidangel. I would like to see the following improvements before I give it a 5 ⭐️ rating though. If there are no filters needed, you should be able to watch it without having to add a filter. I sometimes have to add a filter just to watch it and it's very annoying. I also wish there was a category under violence that is just animals. I don't like to see animal violence in particular such as cutting animals or breaking their necks. I think it would be a great addition. I also wish you could filter out anything that you have to buy or rent. But overall I am grateful that I can now watch shows and movies that I couldn't before due to just sex or f words. I have had the service since it started and will always be a customer.

We are so thankful for VidAngel, allowing us to filter out unnecessary content from many movies that we otherwise would not watch due to a few instances of language or sensuality. Nearly every movie we’ve ever watched on VidAngel we have been completely able to follow the plot and story line without issue, showing that the language and near-nudity is completely unnecessary. There have been a few movies we’ve started and stopped because you just can’t hear anything because of all the language being edited out...so probably not a movie that’s worth watching anyway. The app itself works very well most of the time. Sometimes we have to restart a movie a few times to get it working, but not a big deal. Overall we are very happy with the app and the VidAngel service.

When I first signed up with them, I thought they were pretty good business. I couldn’t understand why they were in all these lawsuits and why they lost their lawsuit. Now as I have decided not to use them anymore, I realize how horrible of a business they are. Once you give them a credit card they will never allow it to be deleted. I have begged and begged and begged them to close my account but they refuse. I have begged and bagged and begged for them to stop sending me emails but I still get junk mail from them all the time. I have communicated with their technical support people at least eight times and still they keep trying to bill my credit card and are sending me emails even though I am begged them to close my account. Beware of a company that once they have your credit card but will not allow it to ever be deleted. If I could give them a zero star I would but the minimum you can give us a one, unfortunately. New customers please beware.

I love the vidangel service and have paid/supported them all the way back during the rental days. The old app was nearly flawless on Apple TV. Then when the Disney crap hit the fan and they rushed out their “new” service the app was updated in a very broken state. Everything from broken search features, play issues, continue watching section being on the bottom of the one page, show descriptions unreadably small, etc. The app hasn’t received an update in a year and half and has been broken all this time. I’ve reached out to them on social media to offer help (I’m a UX designer) but have been shot down. We pay a more expensive fee than Disney+ and only use the Apple TV to view your content. Please have someone spend even just a couple hours patching the issues. I understand a lot is going on with the lawsuit, but don’t disregard the platforms you started on. I want vidangel to be successful, but this app truly is terrible. Especially compared to the iOS and Roku versions.

This app is seriously lacking because it forces the user to search, browse, and set filters while in portrait mode, but then forces the movies to play in landscape. Many iOS users use attached keyboards that uses the landscape orientation. These keyboards also act as a stand or prop when watching videos. Needing to disconnect the keyboard just to rotate the iPad to portrait to browse and set filters only to reconnect is a pain and seems to be completely unnecessary. I just cannot figure out what reason VidAngel developers have to only allow portrait for setting filters, searching, or browsing. Secondly, the app seems to disconnect every few weeks from the subscribed services like Netflix or HBO. Unfortunately the errors don't actually spell that out. You just have to troubleshoot (log out, disconnect, reconnect) to get it to work again. Some concise error handling would go a long way in this regard.
