While the way it tracks your goals is good for the program to earn money...nothing about this app says we know what we are doing, care what we are doing, or that we are a massive billions of dollar company that can’t make an app to work. Every time I open it, it freezes. Usually on the second try it works but not always. Sometimes it’s 3-4 times before it opens. And forget syncing. That often takes anywhere from 4 to 15 times to sync. And if it does work it takes me so long that by the time it finally works you don’t even give a crap that you walked 5 steps that day. Customer service is as awful as you expect from a healthcare provider. Just delete and re-install and set up the app is the answer for everything it seems. And forget it you have proof from other trackers when you do or the dollars earned. If it isn’t synced they will go back a few days is all. Heaven forbid you take care of those paying thousands of dollars to you who get ripped out of like $3 due to you app that never works. If it wasn’t for getting a few bucks through the year and competition at work, I would smash my phone to rid it of the app (if there wasn’t some other way to delete it.
The program seems to really be a good program, but the app is atrocious. I have reached out multiple times asking for assistance and the only thing I get is to update my app on my phone. They are of absolutely no help with the situation at all. They are now trying to make me pay for the device I received from them because I couldn’t ever get it to sync and work. I walk more than my coworker that did the same program, but he received notification that he was successful in completing the program. Absolute garbage! When I reached back out to them to get assistance with the app not working after they said I had to pay for the device, the CSR got an attitude with me and told me there isn’t a problem with their app and told me I was out of luck with not paying for the device. I called at least 4 times and was never given any help except to update an app that was up to date already. When it did work, it would say I hadn’t walked in a whole day. Please do not participate if you are using the walk it off program. I don’t want anyone else to get scammed by the program.
If I could give this app a 0, I would. Here’s why: • It is buggy. Syncing often fails, and sometimes both the phone app and the watch app have to be killed to get them to talk again. • Communication with the server tries one’s patience. I don’t know if its because the servers are woefully underpowered, or if it’s because the server software is poorly written, or if it’s because the app is using inefficient protocols, but be prepared for it to fail or timeout frequently. • Apparently the app only considers “steps” and walking as suitable fitness. If you row, use weights or perform calisthenics, be prepared to see zero (or nearly zero) credit. I swam two miles … Apple’s Activity app thought I had a GREAT day. The UHC Motion app didn’t even think I had met the tenacity goal for the day. Overall, the app is pathetic at gauging your level of fitness, and it is not worth your time investment trying to get it to work. I’ve written software for years (even for iOS and Mac), and this feels like UHC simply slung an app together so they could claim “table stakes” with their competitors. If UHC are serious about playing in the fitness tracking space, then they need to go back to the drawing board redesign this app (and server) from the ground up.
I’m going to go ahead and follow the other review and rate this app a ZERO. This app is the worst! Literally fails every time I try to sync. I’ve contacted the team multiple times and they walk me through the same thing and just apologize. Like thanks but maybe try to fix the app. It’s so frustrating to spend 15 minutes a night trying to sync my brand new iWatch to this glitchy app. It won’t respond, ever. It takes forever to sync, it’ll sync one day (if you need to do multiple days it takes even longer) then once it syncs, your money won’t even show up. So then guess what? You have to do it all over again until the magic just randomly shows up and some nights it doesn’t. If you’re going to be in the fitness game UHC, learn to invest in an app that actually works!!!
I was a bit concerned by reading about all the issues everyone’s been struggling with although to my surprise, I believe all has been corrected as the app has worked perfectly with my fit bit over the course of the last 2 days. It’s auto updating and all is showing up. I guess that the right people made the necessary corrections thanks to everyone’s comments. I hope all stays good with the app as I keep racking up those dollars as I burn away those calories. It’s been fun and seems to be a really great program.
