The example of why pen and paper will always be superior to apps: developers who simply cannot leave well enough alone. The previous version of the app was a little on the visually clunky side but was adequate for keeping track of workouts, weights lifted and checking into the gym without standing in line. The latest version of the app doesn’t let you keep track of your weights lifted, makes checking into the gym difficult at best and not only does it no longer allow you to keep track of your weights lifted, it completely deleted all the data you had saved so you can’t even transpose it to paper or enter it into another app. But hey, it’s visually more appealing and there’s a whole bunch of useless social features. Here’s a tip from an end user: NEVER, EVER simply delete a record keeping function without warning and expect a positive reaction!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a terrible rollout of a software product since the ACA exchange websites came online years ago. Was this app tested at all? Was a beta released to some users to comment on features BEFORE releasing to the general public? Was there any thought given to which functions users would like to keep? I lost all my data. I don’t know how to look it up. Thankfully for Triib, my gym uses the app so it’s the only reason I’m sticking with it. I’ll be generous with 2 stars because the app, visually and from a usability standpoint, is a step up from the previous one, and for all the faults, the daily updates are addressing the bugs. But this is a textbook example of how NOT to do software development (I would know, I do it for a living).

I was really excited for this long awaited new version of the app. However after using it for a day, I’m definitely disappointed. Trying to post a long workout half of the text gets cut off. I can’t find any way to extend the space or make it so longer workouts can be posted from the app so I am back to using the website for posting workouts. Also, where did all the admin features go? I can no longer manage members from the app? I was hoping to be able to do even more back of house stuff all from the app but it seems as though it’s even less than before? This just doesn’t work for me.

Is there no way to access historical recordings of lifts, workouts, etc? That can’t be you might think. This was supposed to be an app for doing exactly that - track your progress. They wouldn’t possibly completely delete your historical data without telling you would they? Oh yes they would. And they took away one of the most useful features in the percentages (look up weights for certain exercises based off your 1RM). If it’s there I can’t find it - so either they dumped it all or the UI is so bad I can’t find it.

There’s a new update/bug glitches but worth every bit of it. So far my gym has been rolling with the punches and everyone loves the new update design. It showcases the schedule really well and most of my members are checking into classes and updating their scores perfectly. Just waiting on the update for workout history. Other than that, it’s good
