Ok app. Even though there are multiple timer options, there are still limits as what one can do. For example, I can’t turn on a light at sunset and off at a specific time, 11pm for example. It’s either hard times on and off; or an offset from either sunset or sunrise—not a mix. I overcome this with cumbersome multiple timer settings that overlap on my devices. I would love to see the next version add that functionality, and also add the ability to enable or disable a specific timer setting. Currently the timer must be deleted to disable it. It would be nice to temporarily disable certain timers so I don’t have to recreate later.
We have a total of ten WiOn outlets, four outdoor and six indoor, and use eight of them on a regular basis, and the other two seasonally for holiday lighting. We even use an outdoor outlet to control our low voltage outdoor lighting transformer, due to the WiOn outlet having more programming options than the transformer timer. The WiOn outlets are great devices, simple to use and very reliable. The app works very well, and has a lot of functionality and options. The only limitation is that it has a limit of 3 hrs - 59 mins. for the On or Off delay following being turned on or off by the Astronomic Timer. This limitation prevents being able to leave the lights connected to the timer, on past 9:30 pm, when they are turned on at sunset, and sunset is at 5:30 pm. It would be great if WiOn would update this functionality to allow a longer time (6-8 hrs), and I would think it would be a fairly simple fix!
Have been using Wion for several years. Our only complaint is you are limited to 12 devices. During the Holidays, we wish the app could let you add at least 3 or 4 more. While we can get past this by using extension chords with splitters, it would be simpler if Wion expanded the number of devices the app could control. Contrary to some reviews, the app fairly easy to set up with a rudimentary knowledge/understanding of how WiFi works, it easily links to the devices (takes a few steps, definitely not plug and play); generally stays connected to our WiFi (in fact, our WiFi disconnects from the internet far more frequently than the device disconnecting from the WiFi). We’ve never had an issue with cloud connection (although at times a device may disappear from the cloud, but this may be due to our provider and our multiple WiFi set up). Overall, we have not encountered issues with the cloud. Overall, we are totally satisfied with the app except for those 2 days setting up our Holidays outdoor display when we would love to connect just 3 or 4 more devices. Then again, if Wion gave us the ability to add 4 more remote plugs, we’d probably want another 3 or 4. 😉
Was very excited when I found this device. But was I disappointed when it arrived. Difficult to set up but made it through that cumbersome process. Was working fine for three weeks and we had a storm that blew up our router. Replaced the router and this device has not worked since. Called customer support and they said “We don’t deal with this”. What?? I emailed customer support and they replied they would send a new device at no charge....four weeks later and I still have no device and they will not respond to emails now. The app is horrible!
It took 2 minutes to set up. I can turn the lights in my house that are plugged into the outlet on and off from my phone anywhere. I also like that I can automatically set the lights to go on/off at certain times on different days for when I go on vacation.
