微信读书

This is the best reading app I have ever used. It is attached with WeChat so we could see other friends’ readings and share our point of views. It is kind of cool to have the reading rewards points and buy books with the points! I also enjoyed reading with this app in three ways. First, it provides different background colors for your preferences. Second, it encourages you to build up your reading habits. Third, books are up to date and well organized. Highly recommended for reading lovers!

I’ve been using it for long time and had enjoyed reading and listening while driving. But with the latest few updates, books had gone through heavy censorship. Characters are replaced by *s for some ridiculous reasons. For example, in Frank Kafka’s Castle(Chinese version), one sentence was read like the following “眼睛眉**刻不停地看着发生的一切”. It’s easy for Chinese people to understand what’s going on. The first character marked by * is “毛”, together with the character ahead it, “眉毛” means eyebrows and the second is “片”，together with the next character ”片刻” means moment．This should be the way and the only way to read it. However if a dumb people just falls in love only with these two censored characters, their meaning is adult video. To eliminate such a ridiculous possibility they have to be sacrificed. I’m not sure if this is violation of copyright but definitely a shame to Tecent.

For a long time I couldn’t find a reading app in Chinese that allows me to make notes and export highlights like Kindle, and Wechat Read does that and more. The interface is clean and intuitive, and the social features don’t overwhelm the essentially solitary experience of reading. I would love it even more if they had more children’s books in their selection.

I love this reading app! I haven't read a book for fun for a long time! Since I got this app three days ago, I have read for many hours! It's convenient. Better than Kindle for you don't have to bring another device. And you can earn money through reading and buy books with the money you earn so you can read more! Excellent!

Currently, none of the reading app has the same interesting functions like this, such as reading the note of others directly, sharing the opinion with friends, and gifting the books to friends. I wish it would have more English books.
