Vilmonic is a LIVING VIRTUAL WORLD. Protect and breed unique pixel-art life forms whose pixels and color have meaning. Experiment with natural selection and evolution. Craft tools, construct buildings and change the environment. Uncover the secrets of the past as you dig up ancient tech and fend off the mindless haywire zombitons.<br><br>Don't be fooled by the SUPER CUTE look, Vilmonic is a deep and complex ARTIFICIAL LIFE SIMULATOR! Your goal is to bring life back from the brink of extinction...<br><br>EVOLVING GENETIC CODE generates each creature's pixel-art body...<br><br>The shape, or morphology, of each animatroid or fungol is determined by its genes. Genes control the bending of internal bones or branches. Pixels cover the bones to create the shape of the body. The shape of the body and the number of different pixels determine the physiology of the life form.<br><br>PIXELS AND BODY SHAPE determine biological function: Hydration, nutrient use, movement, perception...<br><br>Each life form has a metabolism that processes hydration and nutrients at a rate determined by the metabo gene. The larger the life form (the more pixels in its body), the more hydration and nutrients it will need each metabolic cycle. Surface area determines how much hydration each life form evaporates. The more wrinkled the body is, the more surface area there is.<br><br>SIMPLE GRAPH-SHAPED BRAINS create complex emergent behavior. Fear, aggression, attraction, migration, flocking...<br><br>A minimal set of rules, derived from genes, controls the behavior of each animatroid. Animatroids have external sensors (motion/scent/water) and internal sensors (hunger/stress/thirst). Animatroids' brains have attraction/repulsion relationships between these sensors. It is these relationships that determine each animatroid's behavior.<br><br>NATURAL SELECTION AND BREEDING are the only way to evolve your life forms, unless you "cheat" with genetic engineering...<br><br>Your animatroids and fungols will evolve over many generations into new species. The genetic code of each life form is passed down to its offspring during reproduction, with a chance of mutation. Evolution is a slow process. To speed things up, try crafting and drinking a lot of sugary beverages. Toxic waste can also be useful (and dangerous!) It can cause drastic mutations in offspring.<br><br>USE OBSERVATION AND EXPERIMENTATION to learn the hidden rules of the world and its weird biology...<br><br>You must work from within the world to change the world, you have no godlike powers. Spread dangerous toxic waste to increase reproductive mutation rates. Drink sugary beverages to speed up time and get a better view of the process of evolution.<br><br>You are not totally alone...<br><br>There are others like you, but they don’t care about you or your important task. The uncaring, haywire zombitons are everywhere! They’re violent, selfish, and love to build their own cities. Figure out how to live with them, or risk their wrath!

This game is amazing. It’s a fun sandbox that allows you to evolve cool creatures and is like a mix of terraria and ark survival evolved. I find it very fun but I feel that zombies get in the way sometimes. You might be making a cool garden or a pen to raise creatures and then BOOM! Your infected. I feel that while creating a new game I should be able to turn them on or off. That’s really the only negative thing I have to say, but overall it is terrific. Hope you make more games like this in the future!
For all newbies: this is a game showing how environment shapes evolution. It’s a very slow, yet methodical game. In order to care for your first creature, plant fungols and have water near. Depending on amounts of soil/water/food, etc, you can somewhat nudge the direction you want things to evolve. Not recommended for impatient players or those who want a game completely spelled out for them. It can get rather challenging. Other than that, very interesting game once you get the hang of it.
In a world of idle copycats someone brought a refreshing new idea to the table- thank god-and you didn’t beg me to rate the game right before a micro transaction bravo- this game has depth, expect to read and experiment. If we support original ideas like these this dev group might get enough traction to create something beyond pixel art- hope to see your next creation
This is a good game with active devs (join the discord to talk to the dev). People keep saying the tutorial doesn’t teach you much, but it does if you read it well. The goal of the game is to evolve your animals and fungals as much as possible and create a good ecosystem. The crafting is pretty easy to understand (if you read the tutorial fully) and it’s an all around great game :)
as soon as I got through the tutorial I had no idea what to do, the tasks a unclear so I had nothing to try and complete and there was a lot left unexplained. I do really hope this game gets an update because even with the not so great parts it has a lot of potential. The idea and design is great but the execution is just lacking. Overall, it’s a decent game so far and again, I’m just waiting for an update.
