Toca Train

Best game ever

My 2 year loves toca apps including this one, just once around the track with mummy driving (and slurping the tea in the drivers cabin) and my son was grabbing the phone and knew what to do, very intuitive like all toca apps. We think it would be fab to hear the passengers say hello and goodbye to each other if more than one is travelling, maybe different conversations depending on who meets who could be fun. Orson would like to see his sausage dog board the train too, but he realises this is a big ask! A lovely simple, intuitive, open ended app for little ones, other toca apps do seem to have a bit more detail going on in them so we are yet to see how much of a favourite this becomes, but Toca apps are GENIUS, so we assume this will be a keeper too.

Most of the negative reviewers just don't get the concept - this is a TOY and not a game. This a WONDERFUL train set. A real life train set is fun and "all it does is go around the track". The reviewer I quoted doesn't get the fact that this TOY allows a child to still use their IMAGINATION! Yesterday my children (5 and 7) played with my iPhone for an hour. They played beautifully together. They took turns and made up stories about where the passengers were going. Also the lack of instructions is a positive thing. It means the child EXPLORES and the thrill of DISCOVERY is joyful! My daughter was soooo chuffed (having already had several hours of play with it) to discover that the driver can slip his/her cuppa! In short... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

..... and I have to say it is really good. My boy is downstairs playing and I have sat with him and shown him how to pick up the passengers and cargo, five minutes later I am not allowed to play anymore because he knows how to play it on his own "like a big boy". Runs really smooth and is really pleasing to look at. 10/10 for presentation and ease of use. Such a simple concept well thought out and implemented.

It's great - maybe the people who are searching for "meaning" are in the wrong age group. My daughter likes nothing better than driving the train around endlessly, blowing the whistle, and loading/unloading cargo, normally repeatedly at the same station, and filling the carriage up with passengers only to empty it again. It does say on it that it's a toy not a game - you have to have some imagination rather than relying on a plotline, an arbitrary objective and some pre-rendered cut scenes.
