I originally started THM at the end of 2015 and did well for several months prior to surgery and mind set change. I went back to the “I can eat whatever I want” mind set. I believe I didn’t do well in the beginning because I didn’t fully understand nor did I have my head in the right space. I started back this year prior to moving to Florida. I still hold on to the concepts I have learned, but have not been true to the THM way or to myself since I am still recovering from moving and catching up on finances. I was so excited to hear about this app coming out! It’s not what most people believe it to be. It’s simple just the way it was meant to be; the way THM is suppose to be. We put so much pressure on ourselves making THM harder that what it was created to for. This app is to help us build meals/snacks with ease by entering single foods, not telling us what each complete meal is. If that was the case, what would we learn? It would take away everything Pearl and Serene worked hard for it not to be. This is for those who are seasoned and not seasoned THMers. This is an app for building knowledge on top of what Pearl and Serene have thought us. They are continuously honoring us THMer while not leaving their beliefs behind.
I love this app!! Thank you Pearl and Serene! I need help distinguishing fuels. This app is perfect. Does it track calories. No. Can you take a picture of your food or a food package and get caloric count (we don’t count calories!) or how much fat, carbs, sugar.....are in the food? NO! Is it going to cook your meals and feed them to you? NO! It’s a tool to assist in your food freedom. YES! I type in a food, for instance eggs, the app tells me what fuel it is, “S”. In some instances the app will tell you if a fuel is FP, E, or S by how many servings you eat of it (think light Wasa Rye). I have learned that when I eat fried eggs and 3 pieces of Wasa, I have mixed fuels. If I had my eggs and 1 piece of light rye Wasa that’s ok. I love it. Don’t get bogged down by all the information you want at your fingertips. Use this as an aid, not a ball and chain that ties you to the screen before and after every meal. Well done ladies. I love that this is an ANALYZER and not a TRACKER. I never stick with tracking apps because it takes so long to add in ingredients or search for food to see what numbers are. I love that this is perfect with the thm lifestyle of just knowing what fuel something is: S (fats), E (carbs), FP (fuel pull) and NOP (not on plan). I can quickly check to make sure I am keeping my fuels separated for weight loss mode. It takes the guess work out of getting accidental crossovers (mixing fuels). This lifestyle is about freedom and this app maintains that freedom. I’m not controlled by numbers. I love the heart of thm and this addition keeps to the integrity of how this eating plan works. Thank you for providing us with a great analyzer!
This app is really simple and really if you have a basic understanding of food (what's fat and what's carbs) you don't need it. I think the issue is that people were expecting much more with the excitement built up 😅 So much potential for some amazing THM apps that will make following the plan much easier, but this app isn’t it, and maybe that’s the source of many disappointments. I think it would be amazing if there is an app where you can pick from different categories of THM recipes, load them on your menu plan for the week, and it automatically goes on your shopping list. THAT WOULD BE AMAZING! Most likely such an app would not be free, but that’s totally understandable Since it could replace the cook/recipe books.
The new THM app is an awesome help for Trim Healthy Mamas. Simply launch the app, type/tap in the food you wish to check and the type fuel pops up immediately! Much faster than pulling out a book and searching the list for it, searching online for it or posting on a FB page for an answer. (Also more accurate than searching for an answer, just sayin’). Not every food in the world is listed in the app, but honestly, if you think canned soup is a clean food source, (I mean this gently, folks)... then you need to read the book. If you think this app tracks your food or plans your meals*, well, that’s not the stated purpose of this app, so please read what it is meant to do before downrating it. (*if you need meal planning or recipe help, check out the THM Membership! I love that, too!!!!). I am so excited about this app and look forward to the apps THM has in development. EDIT: if you type in some food that isn’t in the list, there is a pop up so you can suggest it be added. Cool!
