Sprout Baby + (Baby Tracker)

This app has done wonders for my husband and I as we try to keep track of everything in the first few weeks with our newborn. We had originally planned to just write things down in a notebook after some friends had suggested to do so. That worked to some degree, but it also became difficult to time things like pumping sessions and feeding sessions while remembering to write them down (especially with sleep deprivation). Also we kept forgetting to bring the notebook with us upstairs or to doctors appointments. This app has a place for everything we needed to track for our LO. We’ve used it mostly for recording how much breastmilk and formula he is drinking at each session and also for me to record the amount of breastmilk I am able to pump. The app does a really good job showing trends and patterns in the data it collects as well. That was very helpful for new mom to be reassured that he is getting enough of what he needs.

I am liking this app a lot. It’s a lot simpler to use than another I was trying out. I love that I can update something for my little one and my husband can as well and we both know what’s going on. However, here are my complaints. 1) I don’t mind that one of us had to purchase the app, and the other could get the free app to sync devices. I however think that (as stated in the FAQ docs) that after the free “trial period” on my husband’s phone he will have to email support to “fix it”. It should just be automatic. 2) The sleep timer DRAINS your phone’s battery! I wish you could just hit “asleep” and it note the time, and then “awake” and note the time and do the math. There is NO NEED for a continuous timer! This would be a MUCH needed improvement. At this time I’ve decided not to track his sleep via the app bc I need my phone to last all day without being plugged in.

The biggest bug is the syncing between multiple devices - if you start a log from one device, you should end it from the same one. Otherwise, you run the risk of overriding the entry! Also, see inconsistencies: as sleep-deprived parents, it's really confusing to keep track of which item/activity appears in what order, depending on how you access your log tools. For example, when you open the iOS app, the items are listed as sleep tracker, feeding tracker, pumping tracker, and diaper tracker. When you try to use the shortcuts by force-pressing the icon, it's pumping, diaper, sleep, feeding. On the Apple watch, it's feeding, sleep, diaper, pumping. Do you see how that can be disconcerting? Is this something you can please address ASAP? Thank you!

I stumbled upon this app right before my son was born, and I fell in love with it. It’s user friendly and I LOVE that you can connect multiple users to access the same information. My only complaint is that I wish there was an option to log a “DRY” diaper. Because otherwise the timer continues and makes it seem like my son’s diaper wasn’t changed when it was. I find myself having to log a “WET” diaper and add note to it saying it was DRY to let myself know his diaper was checked. If this option was available I would honestly say it was the perfect app for me. I hope the developers take this suggestion in consideration and I’ll change my rating from a 4 star to a 5.

Of all the baby trackers out there, this one is very comprehensive and easy to use. There are a few tweaks I wish the developer would add. We had to syringe feed our little one formula along side breast feeding... so we needed to capture that in milliliters and not ounces. The fidelity was important for our records for the pediatrician. I also wish the pumping and breastfeeding were connected for metrics. All of these are small improvements... overall a great app. I like the timer for feeding and the time since last feeding automatically displayed. I also get alerts on my Apple device when my husband changes her or feeds her... so I know she’s been checked. Our devices sync to the same app... awesome feature.
