Sport Lights for Philips Hue

The app says the delay is about 20-30 seconds. I have yet to have my lights go off that early. I was at about a minute with football and at just about a minute thirty seconds with hockey. I get a scoring notification on my phone and anywhere from 5-20 seconds later the lights and sounds finally work. This app has so much potential if it were fine tuned a bit more. Hopefully this review reaches the developer for some kind of fix seeing as there is no way to contact him in the app. All other options in the App Store just bring you a dead end website.

The premise and concept behind this app works perfectly, however when it comes to execution it falls flat. When you test the app either in preview mode or when testing your set up it works amazing, the music is great and fits each team, the lights match the team colors, etc. When you buy the app and subscribe for your teams is where the wheels fall off. The delay is horrendous, I have Budweiser Redlights so I’m used to a 15-20 second delay, this delay is sometimes north of two minutes. For an app that’s all about building a game day experience it’s a killer to have the music/lights go off well into the other team driving down the field or play has already begun in hockey. I’ve seen the developer say that some of this is out of consideration for streamers, in that instance why not follow the Budweiser Redlight app system by having it real time and allowing users to manually enter the delay they want. I’m hoping the delay turns around because at this point it’s almost unusable.

I would give this app 5 stars but it lacks a off mode for when the lights are not firing. I would also like to see if the hockey goal songs can be trimmed correctly to not just cut off in the middle of a sentence or song. But to either fade out, or use more of the goal song so it sounds more complete instead of just randomly cutting out. Another idea is for the Navy midshipmen goal song to include the cannon fired at touchdowns. Overall good app 4/5

Edit: The app developer responded. And that’s cool. I get the size thing. This app really does make me happy. I can’t say any more how awesome it is to have my house light up and flash a goal siren. First off, I WANT to give it 1 start because I paid the $5 for a year of hockey teams... as The fish stick said in then other review, the goal song cuts off... THE GOAL SONG CUTS OFF AT THE BEST PART!!! Whoever made this app, fix that. Please. Fix that. Please please please. And you’ll have 5 stars and $5 purchases raining all over you, and it will be completely well earned! EDIT: My daughter and I went ballistic last night when the Rangers scored!!!! The lights came on right on the moment the goal happened!!! I had the app AirPlaying to my HomePod. It was AWESOME.... but right as we started yelling. HEY, HEY, HEY HEY HEY... the music faded... 😢 5 stars when that is fixed. Easy. Great app except for that. But that’s pretty big...

The developer of this app is incredibly responsive and eager to make improvements. Very quick to help sort though a login issue, which prompted a version update pushed out within a week of notification. Fun app as well - thanks!
