SleepCheck

As I suspected that I had sleep apnoea, I tried using a couple of freebie apps which were useful in determining hours slept and snoring issues but it is SleepCheck that is actually programmed to detect sleep apnoea. The TGA and CE certifications certainly give it a lot of credibility and more so as it appears that the app has been developed by an organisation experienced in other quite sophisticated Telehealth applications. I used the app on 3 nights with the same outcome which prompted me to invest in an assisted breathing device which has worked wonders for me. My only complaint about the app is that it provides no specific data to support the risk category that the sleep analysis places you, other than to state that your breathing patterns and snoring suggest a low, medium, high or very high risk of obstructive sleep apnoea and that people in the risk category, on average, stop breathing more than x times every hour during their sleep. I had no reason to doubt the conclusion however and the Quick Start Guide certainly provides all the information that is really needed.

This is certainly much simpler than doing a sleep study requiring multiple wires (which makes it impossible to sleep properly and get a true reading). The fact that this app is so low interference, yet testing shows it is still able to get a highly accurate result, makes it a game changer. This is a fantastic app, hope to see it rolled out by sleep technicians to more effectively diagnose sleep apnoea.

App does much less than what my wife has already told me. Use it once then that's it. It doesn't even save my information so I can easily use it again. Why do I have to input my details every time I use it??! There are no reports, no data, no diagnosis and nothing to show your doctor! It is NOT a diagnostic tool! All it does is tell me I might be a medium risk for sleep apnea and should consult my doctor but gives me no explanation why it thinks that. There are so many sleep apps and technologies available that are a million times more useful than this and they're free. Can't believe it's a paid app. Speaking of that, the same company has virtually the same app for free called myNight but you can save your information on that one. Still useless though. It seems they've gone backwards and decided to charge with this one. Save your money and get a Fitbit if you have sleep issues. So much better.

My wife has been on me for years about my sleeping and I just brushed it. Well she downloaded this app to show me the issue. Sceptical but I set it up and slept in the spare room for the night. Woke up to read that I was a high risk and it explained what happens to me whilst asleep and that I should see a doctor. I am going to go to my GP this weekend just to make sure all is ok. Easy to use and understand the results.
