Service: travel and save money

I don’t about anyone else, but I am grateful for any extra assistance in obtaining money or vouchers for something such as delayed flights, which I never would have filed a claim for in the first place. Service has been amazing and I have successfully received vouchers through the claim they provided. I don’t travel enough to do the yearly cost, so I do the per claim fee and I think it’s fairly reasonable. The customer service is AMAZING! I have never dealt with a company where I can continually respond to the same customer service person that initially contacted me. I followed up with a claim once and was not only able to easily reply directly, but I also replied a few days later with no issues and spoke with the same person. This does not happen often ! It’s always some automation or oneway email line that is used for customer service at other companies. At the end of the day, this app is a luxury that I am grateful someone thought of. The more I travel I will definitely be upgrading my membership.

Service is fantastic overall. It seems most of the negative reviews are grumpy that a given airline denied a certain claim. This flavor of frustration aired at Service is misdirected. It was the airline that wronged these folks and Service can’t guarantee that a crappy airline will provide compensation. But that’s not the point. The point is that they make it ten times easier to fight for compensation to make up for poor airline service. Instead of having to deal with the airline directly and input painstaking detail, Service just takes care of it all. And for that work, they charge a fair rate, even giving consumers an option of whether they would prefer to pay for an annual subscription or if they would prefer to pay per successful claim. If you pick the latter option, you are literally risking nothing. The app continues to improve as new features are rolled out. I plan to renew my subscription next year.

I’ve had this app for about a year, and I was impressed with it because they got me a couple of airline credits when my flights were delayed. But it was nothing compared to what they did for me last month. I recently had a nightmare experience trying to travel from Rome to Los Angeles on British/American Airlines; a delayed flight caused me to miss my connection and left me stranded in London. The chaos almost made me miss a family wedding in which I was the best man. I got there in one piece but my luggage didn’t arrive. Service contacted the airlines without even checking in with me first and got my companion and me a full refund of our entire tickets which totaled $1500. If that’s not a reason to use this app, I don’t know what is.

To be honest, granting an app permission to see my emails can raise red flags. However after getting me about $700 from a cancelled flight, I care a whole lot less about them seeing my subscriptions and junk mail. My experience: I was on my last day of a trip to London when I received a notification from Service letting me know my first flight back home was canceled and that they were working to find a resolution for me. I contacted my airlines and they happily found me an alternate flight. This was all before any other airline, travel app, google notification, or any message reached me letting me know our flight had any sort of change. When I got back home I got an email from service letting me know their progress and about a week after I got a 3rd email asking me for a paypal for my payout. I don’t know of many other services that don’t bother you when you don’t need them, and reach out when you do. I feel like THAT is the Cherry on top with service.

I used this service to attempt to rectify a terrible flying experience as it was advertised. They were able to get me 100 dollars refunded however did not state that this voucher had an expiration period. When I emailed to say I was unable to access my voucher was the first time I was informed of this expiration period was when I was told there was nothing that could be done to retrieve this voucher. They offered to refund HALF of the fee charged to me for this voucher I couldn't use. When I asked them to confirm what credit card it was being refunded to (which generally a company should confirm before any action) I was informed it was sent to an account that was closed. At this point they more or less said there was nothing they could do and I should contact by previous bank. So in the end I paid 30 dollars for absolutely nothing. Would not recommend at all.
