MyAnimeList Official

The UI is clean and I’m fond of the update feed, but several key features are very lacking. The app is supposed to be a substitute for using MAL in a browser, but many basic things like viewing character pages or friends’ profiles moves you from the app onto your browser to complete the action. It’s also impossible to view your list with filters like you can on the website, which is a major inconvenience for someone like me with a long list. The search bar is very limited, only allowing you to search for anime titles and not people, users, or manga, and speaking of manga, the manga list is entirely absent from this app so far. Overall, the app is plagued with inconveniences that makes it very frustrating to try to use. At this point, it is certainly no substitute for the MAL website, but if some of these problems can be addressed this skeleton of an app has a lot of potential.

Ever since I came to the realization that I’m starting to watch too much anime and I needed to keep track of what I watched, thus resulting in me joining the site back in January, MyAnimeList has done worlds for my watching experience. The fact that’s it’s being transferred to a mobile app I can use nearly anywhere makes it all the more better now. From what I’ve seen, there are very few bugs and glitches that really hinder my use of the site. It’s all in all a solid app. I’m aware that it is still in progress of being developed but if it could be possible to implement a dark mode or color customizers to the mobile version like there is in the desktop version, then it would be a lot easier for the eyes on those who watch their shows in the dark. But if there is a way to implement this on the app version, please let me know. All in all solid app and it’s just about everything i’d imagine and more from a phenomenal site like MyAnimeList. MyAnimeList finally has an app, something that me and many users of the site have wanted. The presentation and layout, as well as the main functions of the app work great. However, it is not without problems. A lot of parts, such as the “reviews” section of your profile, take you to the MyAnimeList website. Also, I’m still unable to write reviews on the site. So unfortunately, there are some problems, but in conclusion, the app works great and I feel it is better than using the site on mobile. Please listen to this feedback, MAL! Also, here’s a suggestion - please make searching things other than anime available in the search option. Please also consider making it so you can include/exclude genres from your searches! Thanks!

I love myanimelist, I pretty much use it everyday to check on what my friends are watching and to update my list. I think that the problem with this app is that you can’t see your friends, and also you can only search up anime and not characters. Since this is in beta I’m giving it a 4 stars and hopefully they will add those features in the future, but everything else is solid!

I have recommend this site for all my anime/manga lovers since I use to write everything I would read and watch in a notebook but this site is so wonderful! Now, they have an app and I check it out. So far so good! Thank you again for this amazing update! I couldn’t be more happier about this!
