The My Emergency Dr app is a 24/7 medical app that connects patients anywhere in Australia to Specialist Emergency Doctors via a video link on your smartphone. Via the app and email, our doctors provide an online emergency consultation, including prescriptions, x-ray and pathology referrals, and provide advice on whether the patient needs to attend the Emergency Department, or whether their condition can be managed initially via the app and then followed up by the patient’s usual GP. The My Emergency Dr app is your direct link to Australian Registered Specialist Emergency Doctors who are experts in making rapid, accurate assessments of all medical emergencies. These expert doctors are Fellows of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, or FACEMs and are the most senior doctors who work in hospital emergency departments. Some of the common conditions we can treat: • Sports injuries • Work injuries • Headache/concussion • Abdominal pain • Diarrhoea and vomiting • Urinary tract infections • Fever/sore throat/cough • Rashes, bites and stings • Allergic reactions *****Please note that this is not a replacement for the emergency 000 service. If the patient has a time-critical emergency such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 000 without delay.***** The service has been developed by a group of leading Australian specialist emergency department doctors as a way to improve access to emergency care for all Australians wherever they live, and help alleviate pressure on public hospital Emergency Departments. My Emergency Dr is Australian-owned and operated and is not reliant on government funding. Whilst the Doctor App is free to download, each consultation is paid for by the patient and is not Medicare rebateable except For residents of aged care facilities and for Australians living in a telehealth-eligible area (which Medicare defines as outside of major city (RA1) as classified by the Australian Standard Geographical Classification), the service can be bulk-billed to Medicare if your GP has provided a referral in advance. *****Please also note that this is not a replacement for GP visits. As emergency physicians, we do not manage longer term health issues (such as monitoring chronic conditions, developing holistic care plans, medication management, etc).*****
