Numbers 1 to 10 - first steps in math for children We create child-friendly educational software for iPads and other tablet computers that have a touch-screen operation. The app 'Learn to count' is part of a series of educational games for children and introduces the numbers from 1 to 10. To create a child-friendly learning environment, many graphical elements such as navigation, figures, numbers, and symbols were kneaded with modeling clay by hand. The app includes a total of 7 games (no in-app purchases required): 1) Numbers 1 to 10 2) Learn to count 3) Number line 1 to 10 4) Order sets 5) Count with numbers 6) Complete number sequences 7) Sort number sequences The background music can be switched on or off in the lower left corner. Even if the music is turned off, action sounds stay on and the numbers are said in the languages German, English, French, Spanish or Japanese. The language settings are to be found in the general settings menu. With our educational apps we want to provide child-friendly games and we want to encourage parents, educators and teachers to learn actively with children and new media. Because the new media and specifically the tablet computers with touch screens play a large role in our media-driven world. It is important to recognize that digital media as an everyday condition and to integrate digital media in the learning process of children in a useful way. Tablet computers are very handy because of their mobility: they may be used on the way in the train, at home on the couch, by relaxing in bed or sitting at a table. Without 'difficult' input devices such as mouse or separate keyboard tablet computers can be used by small children with adult support.
