Kings of the Castle

Firstly, it’s a great game to show that touch controls for first person games can work pretty well. My two problems: one is just that it could use more content. It’s the type of game that’s designed to be played over and over to beat your time and the only way to make these types of games not get boring super fast is having a number of levels. My other issue is the mid-air control. The huge amount of control in the air is hard to get used to, but the part that I find extremely annoying is that if you hit a jump at full speed and then lift up your left finger all your horizontal momentum is instantly cancelled. How it should work is you should continue with your current trajectory with no movement input. Inputting forward should make you overshoot your original landing point and backwards should make you undershoot. There should be no way to instantly stop your horizontal movement while in the air. Or if you feel this is an important feature, add an ‘air brake’ button.

The gameplay is fine, but there are only two levels. There’s simply not enough content to sustain anyone’s interest for an extended period of time. The visuals are nice, and I can tell a good amount of thought went into the movement, which feels natural and fun to control. It is satisfying to run around the island at high speeds, collecting gems as quickly as possible. But with only two levels, it is easy to learn the quickest routes to victory, and it gets boring to replay them over and over again. Some may find enjoyment in beating their high scores, or trying for a better spot on the leaderboards, but the game definitely needs a few more islands to explore; or more quests and activities to do on the existing islands. There is just not enough here. I have not been able to try the online matchmaking either, since there are very few people playing. The game certainly has potential, so I hope more people download it, and that the devs add more content in future updates.

I am desperate to play this game fully because it seems like so much fun and quite adorable, but there is a glaring omission! The player can’t invert the Y axis! This is essential for me (and many others, I’m sure) so please add the ability to invert the Y axis and my rating will shoot up to five stars!! I can’t wait!

This game is really good and well polished i can’t wait to play this with my kids on the Apple TV / speaking of Apple TV can we get a split screen multiplayer option?/ also I would to see some more erm “African” looking princesses that my daughters can choose from if you get what I’m saying?

They pulled me back in.... this is basically like a boarderlands quest with much better game play and much easier to start and stop. Multiplayer is on point!!! Saw in another review that Apple TV and split screen is coming! Great job guys/gals
