Had the app 2-3 years ago and was super into it, would read its scary stories every night and there were very interesting ones but got rid of it when I got a new phone and was serious on not junking you my phone or storage. I see all the ads but I don’t consider re-downloading it because I already know how the story ends since I read it before. I downloaded it again because I wanted to re-read some stories I remember and see the new stories that look interesting. Bro.....I download it and instantly says do I wanna get premium.... I don’t see an x or no so I put continue and exit out to see if I can get out....nothing.....I then tap I already have a subscription and it says I don’t.....I am still stuck on the screen and I’m swiping everywhere. I can’t get out, it just shows this screen if I want premium and I really done because when I had it before I was fine with the way it was not being able to see pics, vids or audio so I don’t want premium BUT I also just wanna see the story and it’s not letting me. I delete it, re-download it and yea man it stills take me to if I want premium. I don’t, I can’t leave it so I can’t use the app so I really wish I can give it 5 stars but why will I do that if I can never get in the app😑. So yea I didn’t experience the app and I understand they need to make money but this right here ain’t it. Hopefully if gets fixed in the future. Until then I’m not changing my mind.

You could watch more of the shows from the app on ads than you can watch in the actual app without a subscription. I decided to download the app (again from 2 years ago, it looked like it had improved [it hadnt]) was forced to choose between romance and horror (okay whatever) chose romance and immediately it started playing Trevor and the Virgin (without my permission) WITHOUT A BACK BUTTON OR AN ESCAPE BUTTON and then not even FIFTEEN SECONDS pass and it says “you have to wait 5 minutes to resume the show or purchase the full version. Like what? How am I supposed to even know I want to watch the show in a 15 second blip? I have literally seen longer clips of the show from AN ADVERTISEMENT than I got to see on the actual app. They shouldn’t even waste their time making a “free” version at this point. Just tell people it costs money instead of making them so angry from the interruptions and lack of choice that they either delete the app or angrily purchase it. Terrible setup and I would not recommend to anyone. The only reason this app even has positive ratings is probably because the app said “give us a 5 star rating and we’ll remove your wait time for one time only.” Bologna if you ask me. This app actually got worse. At least I used to get to click through a minutes worth of texting before the ad popped up. Worst app in the history of apps. Don’t corner people, Hooked. It’s lame.

This review will be updated pending a response from customer support. The ads are so misleading. I got this app on a whim, watched a couple videos and realized it was stupid. The content is targeted towards an immature preteen audience and the plot lines of every story were annoyingly cliche and cringey. The app had very limited selection of content for each genre and only a few videos for each, the rest were all audio. Just get an actually interesting audiobook from the library for free people! So I deleted the app. Unbeknownst to me, I was automatically subscribed and was being charged EVERY WEEK. I happened to stumble upon the information in my settings just by chance. I don’t even splurge on a Netflix subscription, which is so much better and is way cheaper ($5 every week for an extremely limited selection of content aimed at a very specific audience?? And if I recall, the app still had ads on top of that. Get over yourselves developers.) I wish I’d gotten at least some kind of notification that I was being charged. Even Netflix has the courtesy to send out email reminders before a trial ends and a subscription renews so you can cancel if you don’t want to pay. I contacted costumer support and explained this, so I’ll remove this if they work with me. But as of right now I’m really annoyed I wasted money on nothing.

I had at first deleted the app about 2-3 years ago since it was boring and I didn’t like how you had to pay to see the pictures. No biggie. I then repeatedly see a bunch of ads specifically about “Trevor and the Virgin” and all the ones about the whole “don’t let mom in” and “grab the mysterious shotgun that you never knew about”. I got curious and decided, “hey. Some of the stories look cool.” So I downloaded it and it asks me if I want to choose between TWO genres of stories: horror or romance. Keep in mind it’s almost 4 am and I really don’t want to be reading horror right now and I’m not in the mood for romance so I HAVE to choose one of them. I decide romance and I was getting ready to pick my story that I was going to read. I get in he app and it instantly puts me in some video. I was watching Trevor and the Virgin. Not the best choice but whatever. Literally 8 seconds in it says “You can either wait 15 minutes or pay $7-8 a month with a thirty day free trial.” I’m not waiting FIFTEEN MINUTES to watch a FIFTEEN MINUTE VIDEO. I don’t see the point in that. I really think that you should be allowed to pick what you want to read and have more options for the different types of genres. Sure, horror and romance probably are the most popular but not EVERYONE likes it. I also think that the whole fifteen minute wait time or pay up is absurd.

I have several complaints about this app. First of all, you only get to view the story for like 2 minutes. After around two minutes, you have to wait FIFTEEN to be able to read again. Also, to skip the break, you have to purchase a membership. I am NOT such a big fan of that. Please either decrease the duration of the break or just get rid of it as a whole. Secondly, you have to get the full version to view the pictures, and that's around $11. Seriously, $11 just to view pictures? I WILL NOT accept that. Decrease the price of the full version, please, and allow everyone to see the pictures without purchasing the full version. Third and foremost, the text messages appear too slowly. This means that instead of viewing like 2 minutes of texts, I'm looking at around 1:40. Please increase the pace at which the text messages appear. Short summary: I have several complaints. First of all, you only get to view the story for 2 minutes, then it's a 15 minute break. To skip the break, you have to purchase a membership. Secondly, you have to purchase the full version to view pictures, and the full version is around $11, which I WILL NOT accept. Third, the messages appear too slowly, decreasing the amount of messages that I could potentially view.
