HARMAN Spark

I haven’t a single major issue with this device. Present functionality is less than the advertised features by AT&T. But, it provides dependable and consistent data services. Accurately, reports trips. And, keeps tabs on gas level, battery levels, intake air temperature. And will report the occurrence of certain ODB error codes. It also provides notice if the vehicle is bumped or towed. Presently, no emergency roadside assist stance available. There are also no remote features available like remote lock/unlock, flash lights, horn or remote climate start. I would thinks these would be easy adds. There isn’t any integration presently with smart home systems. So, no Alexa, Google Assistant or Samsung SmarterThings integrated. The device was easy to install and is reasonably priced. I see tremendous potential through their platform. With the addition of a few more bells and whistles, Harman may just evening use this “Spark” to ignite a wildfire!

I love the idea of the Harman Spark being able to track your trips, alert your emergency contacts if your car is in a crash and you’re unable to answer, give you a driving score, etc.; however they still have several bugs to work out. First of all, the set up process is a nightmare. They tried to make it user friendly by asking simple questions to get your vehicle info and emergency contacts but even following the instructions to a “T” it still can’t find it and gets stuck on one set of instructions and you can’t go anywhere because you have to set it up before you can access the app features and account. I had to redo both of ours several times, call in for help and still wait 24 hours for it to finally work. I took a 2 hour trip and the app/device tracked it however on the way back it didn’t register that I had left and had returned it to my home. The app/device had my car’s location stuck at my trip destination for 2 days before finally catching back up. And yes I did drive the vehicle between that time. It has never given me a driving score like it’s supposed to and I’ve had it for 2 months. It incorrectly told me that my battery was in critical condition and that the car may not start making me panic until I got it checked out. The “watchlit” feature which alters you when the car moves in case of theft, etc. gets stuck at my house while the app shows the actual car at a different location.

I have been trying for the last two days to set up my Spark with no luck. I have been on the phone with 10 different people. Literally ten! I have been sent back-and-forth from Harman to AT&T and back time and time again MULTIPLE TIMES. No one is taking responsibility. They each seem to blame the other. I’m experiencing the exact problem that seems everyone else on here is. It won’t work. The app is completely useless. It says drive five minutes and then 10 minutes and still nothing. I am completely frustrated. I will be returning for a full refund. I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. It is very clear that something isn’t right with this company and their product. They need to be held accountable for their lack of support and poor product.

We purchased this prior to going on a road trip so our children would have wi-fi. We have a 2016 Ford Expedition and over 1000 miles it functioned perfectly. It had no trouble with phones and 3 iPads connected to it. We had it activated in the store and it was plug and play from there. Worked great throughout a lot of rural areas during our trip. Would definitely recommend as a purchase.

Instant virtual mechanic to notify the service engine problem as soon as it appears on the dashboard it’s an amazing feature that doesn’t require me to go to my nearest auto parts to find the issue on the car, love it when it reminds me that my tank is running low on gas.. hope the collision features gets back on but if not, still a good app.
