Guardian Soulmates Dating

I generally like Guardian Soulmates above all other online dating websites and apps because you are pretty much guaranteed a better class of person (without sounding too snobbish!!) and none of the sleaze of Grindr and other such apps and hopefully no Brexiteers or Torys either! The only down sides I find are the high price for full membership, there is no intermediary price, it’s either free and no messaging or messaging and suddenly very expensive in big lumps of money which I imagine puts off a lot of people from subscribing. The other issue I have with Guardian Soulmates is that 95% of its users live in London. Which is fine you also happen to live in London but I live on Dartmoor in Devon and London is not ever so handy for me!! Such a shame Guardian Soulmates is going, there is nothing else out there like it to take its place and with a few little tweaks it could have been so much better but alas it wasn’t to be. I hope this doesn’t force me back to the more lurid apps or god forbid; send me out night-clubbing!! Please reconsider your decision in the future for the sake of cultured people who don’t want to have to go down the less pleasant avenues in search of love! Jim Causley

In many ways this is a great site but I had crazy problems trying to log in at the beginning and list a couple of weeks usage because I couldn’t access my account via the phone app - I wrote to the team endlessly and they didn’t seem able to resolve the problem so I’m the end I went in to Apple and got it resolved. I would therefore appreciate being given a two week extension to my membership to make up for the time list at the start of the venture!

Not only is this the worst dating app I've ever used, it's the single worst app of any kind I've ever encountered! You constantly have to sign in: can't set your location as you'd wish: but worst of all messages appear and disappear without explanation! It's extremely frustrating particularly as you end up giving the wrong impression on the rare occasion you actually match with anyone (it either looks like you're not interested coz you haven't messaged them or you look like a mentalist repeatedly sending the same message!) Add to the reviews below there is hardly anyone on this thing. I did a search using my scant criteria within a 300 mile radius and got less than 100 results. It's expensive and useless. I guess everyone has given up on it. This app needs redesigning from scratch or mothballing. It reflects very badly on the Guardian itself.

I think recent updates have made it even flakier. As it now also crashes occasionally. The notifications still seem haphazard sometimes not notifying. The messages get cut off at times. Other times reappearing. The activity tab doesn’t update properly. Ditto the views and likes tab - changing on and off from moment to moment in the app when that’s not reflected on the actual site. Tip re messaging - if message seems to end mid sentence then do a select all and copy then paste it into your notes app and you will see the rest of the message. This works but is annoying having to do. General tip - app is usable but don’t rely on it notifying you of new message or activity.

On the plus side the men seemed intelligent and genuine. People appeared to be looking for a relationship. Despite the normal yawn-worthy 50 somethings looking for 30 somethings! However! There is hardly anyone on the site outside if London / SE. The same profiles and pics stay on for years. It is not possible to see where people are based without looking at their profile or whether they are an active member. It is VERY expensive. Wait for them to email a discount. Also the app is v clunky to communicate on. It tells you when someone has viewed you but not liked or messaged. I hated this! I deleted my profile after 2 weeks and checked back in the real world.
