FLIP: Buy & Sell Sneakers

The app overall isn't bad, but needs major improvement. There isn't enough traffic through the app to actually get multiple bids on your shoes. The shipping label they provide to ship items off to customers is via USPS Parcel which is the slowest service to ship an item. I would expect that they would provide a Priority Mail shipping label so that the customer can possibly get their item the same week they purchased it. And so that us, the seller, could possibly get paid that same week. I lost a package that was worth about $200 due to using this app because the customer wouldn't respond or pick up the package from the post office. I have still yet to get my package or my money back. This app needs a lot of improvement in order to get my business back.

It's telling that the scattered positive feedback here is all from sellers, since Flip explicitly recruits them to use the app. For the majority of people who would actually use the app, however -- the consumers -- Flip is a slick package with no substance. Discouraged by low sale prices and little bidding activity, Flip recently allowed select sellers to select a "secret reserve" price, invisible to all bidders and nowhere mentioned in the FAQs or auction terms, in exchange for ridiculously low starting auction prices (as low as $10 or $30 to start for a shoe worth 10x that). As a result, while Flip might have been able to drum up a handful more bids (important to please those funders with traffic numbers!), in practice, that means that most shoes never sell. People bid, think they're going to win, but find out that the seller can cancel the auction because the secret reserve price was never hit. So the same shoe gets reposted a week later, and around and around we go. With such little traffic and most sales never actually going through, this app is dead on arrival. What keeps the doors open, if anything, are the "raffles" that allow you to give Flip access to liquid cash in exchange for store credit. But if no auction ever goes through, there isn't anything to ever spend that credit on. I write this in the hopes that no one else is fooled into buying into this broken system in the future.

Flat rate for each transaction is great! The winning bid pays and you take home 90% of the money. Hard to beat that. If you let flip set the auction price, they will buy the shoe even if there’s no winning bidder. Hard to beat the guaranteed sale!!! The auctions last for a short amount of time so you’re time isn’t wasted days on end trying to locate a buyer. You get paid quicker than eBay! Try it, get paid

I’m not one to be petty usually, but this is certainly worth it. In August, I entered into a raffle for the Pharrell Williams Human Race NMDs in my size. On the 21st, I won the raffle, and was notified immediately by the FLIP team. I told them my size, and they said they would keep me updated. When I contacted them a month later, they said they were working on obtaining them. In October, they said there was a mixup with the order. In November, they stopped replying. I sent messages to everyone on their team, and I still have gotten no replies. This app is a sinking ship, and don’t throw your money into it. They charge buyers $20 for shipping, and they can’t keep their promises.

I won a auction. The seller didn’t ship the item and provide me da updates. Never has conversation with me. The Flip team mixed up everything. They said the seller shipped da item and would provide me da tracking number. Next week, they said that seller hasn’t shipped the item. And they replied me like twice a week.
