DuoMaps Directions & Traffic

Have had for 5+ yrs. Still the best of what’s available for street view; but recent bugs most annoying; they don’t happen all the time thank goodness but maybe 10% of the time; For instance, 1st annoyance-When getting directions, type in both addresses, takes you to that street address in a totally different state, and does not correct when you start over multiple times. We were traveling / moving the 1st time that happened. 2nd annoyance, dropping a pin (on a standard map) on a house business, or street to get address, tells you it is an address 1 or 2 streets way OR gives you the same address for every house, structure, or location on that street. Most annoying; begin to distrust any other search findings.

Since I got my first iPad some years ago, this has been my favorite app. Its design makes it much easier than any other map app to use for navigation, street view, and my profession/hobby of geology. Having satellite from both Apple and Google is great because I can choose the one that displays the best view of my target street travel or geologic feature. The street view control is easier than other map apps, and the labels are a good size. Very legible, but not so big they obscure the map. I know several users are unhappy about the new subscription, but it was necessitated by an increase in costs that are beyond the developers' control. It was not a case of greed. Having looked at similar apps, I was delighted by the low price of the DuoMaps subscription and feel that it is well worth the price of two lattes for a year's use of street views. It sure beats the possibility of losing DuoMaps entirely.

DuoMaps is the major reason I stayed with iOS devices when Apple Maps replaced Google Maps. DuoMaps offers all the services of both, with a slick and beautiful interface. This is my favorite and most used app. Perfect for everything from navigation to geology/geography browsing. For those complaining about "greed" in the new subscription model, it was forced on Duomaps by a very rich third party raising the licensing cost of their maps. It's also just a third of the subscription rate charged by Duomaps closest competitor. The real greed is for users to expect a lifetime of free upgrades and maintenance while only paying a single small initial fee. That's like expecting free servicing and parts for the life of a car. Without impossibly large and continuous increases in new users, subscriptions are going to become standard. The Duomaps rate is a real bargain for an exceptional app by fine, responsive, and generous developers.

Every day I have to make quick judgements about how to get to a location, and what I’ll find when I get there. DuoMaps Is my most-used app, after Mail & Camera. It helps me avoid problems and helps me earn every dollar. DuoMaps implements Street View in a superior, intuitive way. Better mapping information, accessed more quickly, and with a better user interface. When a problem crops up due to unexpected changes by either Apple or Google, the Developer tackles it quickly — and gets it fixed. I have no reservations: buy it!!
