I have been using Dreamscope since it’s original version, I have absolutely loved the filters, the array of genres, but it literally takes an entire week for my pictures to filter and show on my personal album. I remember it taking 45 seconds to a minute, sometimes two or three minutes. Which was fine, you’re out to dinner with friends, you take a gorgeous photo, you apply a filter, by the end of dinner you are sharing the photo with everyone who shared the experience. Not anymore. It doesn’t even show the “working“ icon, so I don’t even know what pictures actually went through, even though every single picture said “success“. This app is beyond frustrating. I have the paid version, so far it’s a complete waste of time and money. I’m going to shop around for another app, of the same variety, surely this technology is not limited to just Dreamscope. I’m breaking up with Dreamscope and looking for another, ASAP.

I love this app, and I can truly say that the community who uses this app is made up of the most kind, supportive and encouraging artists I have yet to find in an app community. I am only about five weeks in as far as using this app so I am still learning the ropes, but bc I am a lover of filters, it has become one of my most favorite of all of the apps that I use. As a professional photographer who started out in the darkroom, it’s difficult to press a button and wait to see what happens with my original image bc I feel as though I am giving up any and all control over the end result of the photo. It would be great if there were a preview of what each filter will look like on a particular photograph rather than having to shoot in the dark each time. I do love the fact that you can see the original image and make your own custom filters. Just in the past week, this app has become sooooo slow in processing the images I put in. It takes days at times before I can see what Dreamscope and I have created. It’s causing me to not use the app as often and to use other apps such as Photo Lab Pro, which gives instant image processing.

This used to be a really amazing app. I used to be able to get results back in a few minutes. Now, however, as others have noted, it takes hours to days to get a single photo back, if at all. This breaks the “trial and error” cycle completely and makes the app basically unusable, even as a demo for the advanced version. I am absolutely not going to pay $9.99 PER MONTH to upgrade to their advanced version when the evidence suggests that they can’t even make the version that I already have work adequately. (Plus, I absolutely despise mandatory forced arbitration clauses in non-negotiated contracts and the many pages of scary legalese that one has to agree to to use the service which was somehow not necessary to use the app itself.) This company does not appear to respect its customers much, and if it continues to behave this way, it won’t have many left. A pity, since the original app was really quite nifty, and if they had treated me well, I might well have been willing to pay extra money for use of an advanced version from time to time (but probably not as a subscription).

I want to love this app but it is just glitch after glitch. From download and first login: login via Facebook! Except it takes you into a never ending loop between the two apps (bounced back and forth between the two 12 times before I gave up). Register for a new account! Except the keyboard completely covers the boxes you need to fill in so you have no idea what you’re doing. To create a picture you just guess at it — there is no preview. And then you wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. The final products can be nice but I don’t understand why it is so sloooooow. *edited to lower score even further. I have now created 4 images. I guess. Who knows, since you can’t actually view them? I can see that I have 4 posts but see no images. I try to search for my user name and it takes me to my profile. I tried scrolling through the posts and went through a few days’ worth without seeing my images. What the heck? This app is useless.

Update: I just lowered my rating and cancelled my subscription! Sometime after my comment below, I decided to fork over the money because I really like what the app does - when it’s working. But therein lies the problem: it works in a timely manner almost never. I love what this app does when it is working properly. But for many months now, it is barely working. I submit photos, and if I’m lucky, I get results in a week. By then, I’ve forgotten what I was trying to achieve. But frequently, I get no result - my photos are lost in the ether or something. I’ve been told that it works best if you fork over the monthly fee and use a computer. However, other users complain that even that makes little difference. I use the iPhone app. Would consider paying (although I think the price is too high) if I believed the app would work consistently and in a timely matter. Hey, developer, you need to get your act together!!!
