I have had no major issues with this app and have been using it. It works well and VPN is a must. One reviewer reported that it is turning off when he comes back to it after 5 1/2 hours, but I don't think it actually has been off just that the app has been backgrounded and needs a moment to get the VPN status. I have noted that turning the VPN off m settings doesn't always work, so that is something that definitely needs to be fixed but is not enough to lower my rating of this app because over all it performs very well, offers a lot of value and I assume that this one small issue will be fixed in a future update. The app is stable and Ive had no crashes with the most recent version.
That it could & probably is safe however every time I turn to use my browsers or so the “VPN” signal up top is gone & from what I’ve read is that you have to go allllll the way back into the app just to reactivate & the “VPN” alllll over again! I don’t know if this is supposed to do this, then maybe it should be fixed because it does leave the customer open to “threats” putting our phones at risk. No it does not show & it also does not show “connected” I’ve checked before going back into the app & re-starting the process all over again. So if the notifications is the pull down window I do not see it.
I very much enjoyed the idea of the app. But in actuality the app delivery was, subpar. I would constantly notice that webpages weren’t loading, or my speeds would drastically be slow. The only common denominator was that the VPN was turned on. This happened anywhere and everywhere. I started playing with it. If I noticed the webpage wouldn’t load, I would toggle the VPN off and reload - VOILA! It would load. If I felt my speeds were slow, I would repeat the steps and it was like a lightning bolt powered my phone to process faster. I noticed in the app that you can select to trust networks you frequent - I didn’t notice any changes. I just deleted the VPN profile from my phone, so, I will now be deleting the app. I shouldn’t be experiencing connection or speed issues, especially when I pay for premium.
Overall the app is great, it is easy to use and easy to navigate through but my biggest issue with this App is the VPN feature. The VPN would automatically connect to my know networks even when I have added them to my TRUSTED networks. I’ve tried restarting the app and other quick fix techniques but nothing seemed to work. This issue has lead me to uninstall the app. I hope with a quick software update they can address the issue. PLEASE FIX THIS SOON!!! After my first review, I was contacted by Verizon digital support team asking me to reach out to resolve the issue I had mentioned above. I ended reaching out and got no response. I was thrilled to see Verizon support, taking what I said into consideration but it was a joke. It was clear to me after I emailed the support team they did not care. That is why I dropping my first rating from a 3 to a 1.
I had a lot of trouble setting this up on my phone. I wound up on the phone with McAfee with an agent who had a thick accent and neither of us could understand one another. He didn’t do anything but I figured it out the next day and got it working. Then I set it up on my mom's phone, worked fine. I’ve been trying to set it up on my husband’s phone for several days and I keep getting error messages. I don’t want to call McAfee again so I guess my husband doesn’t get the app. Very frustrating. All three of us have the same phone btw, iPhone 11.
