Arsenal Remote

I bought an Arsenal to use on my Canon T-3i, and I am so happy I did. I was ready to get rid of this camera but This cool gadget has helped extend the life of it so much by adding features that would otherwise be unavailable to me. Being able to save photos to my phone instantly after taking them on the camera is a huge life saver for me. I’m always sending my friends and family my photos, and now I can do it while I’m out in the field. I’ve also started using the Timelapse features a lot, and I’ve never been one to shoot Timelapses, but they just make it so easy with this thing. Smartlapse is really amazing, you just hit one button and it makes the Timelapse for you. I cannot recommend this thing enough. If you’re on the fence, get one! You won’t be disappointed.

I bought this as a pre-order on Kickstarter months ago like most others. I was extremely excited to try it out and bust out some more complex shoots than my normal. I’m not sure if it’s because I use Sony or if it’s just the app, but it will not stay connected to my phone, the live preview is nearly always frozen, the focus is absolutely terrible whether handheld or on tripod and it usually will not allow me to correct it, and the majority of the time, the shutter will not even release. I’ll have a beautiful shot setup, press the shutter release on the app and it will act as if it’s taking a photo, but the shutter never releases. I’ve taken a grand total of 3 photos using this device and app because those are the only times I could actually get it to work. This needs major bug fixing. I honestly considered selling the device shortly after I received it when I realised it’s incapable of actually functioning, but I’m holding onto it in hope that improvements will come. I am highly disappointed and feel as though I’ve lost nearly $200 on a device that may never work as its supposed to.

I was admittedly a bit skeptical having read some of the initial reviews of this product. That being said, I was intrigued with the capabilities promised and even my initial experience exceeded my expectations. I can tell there are still challenges but also evident is the commitment to improving user friendliness. Personally, as a genuine novice to my camera’s settings and capabilities, I found the remote software very intuitive and ingenious when it comes to previewing and adjusting shots. The ability to focus on separate parts of the image and stack them to improve the overall scene quality makes it a home run. Looking forward to see the capabilities continue to be fine tuned!

I just want to put a shout out to the ‘help’ people at Arsenal!! I give them a double 🙌🏻!! An assistant just spent an hour with me sending information back and forth and photos and he helped me figure out what step I was missing to use my Arsenal Assistant. I had used it twice (and love it) and then this time no matter what I did, it couldn’t read my camera being connected!! I had forgotten, at least with my camera, I shouldn’t have the Bluetooth on when connecting after I already have made a wifi connection. Thank you Arsenal for kind caring patient help! This 65 yr old beginner appreciates it!!

First, I like the app and the hardware is OK. My only complaint with the hardware is the shoe fitting is very loose. I am afraid to keep it attached when moving around for fear of losing it in the night. The app is great! It does everything it is supposed to and more! I love that I am able to setup time lapse videos of whatever. I really like the preview function in the TL tool that allows me to view the progress as it is still taking shots. The one issue I have (the reason for the 3 star review) with the Arsenal is that it isn’t really geared for (more importantly) Astrophotography. Anyway I would be happy to change my review if this feature were added...or if I am just not finding it in the app.
