Arcane Showdown

Early days but I’m blown away. If this is the direction that PVP card games are headed it’s exciting to think of what will come down the road. I’m surely getting way ahead of myself but it’s hard not to think about what’s next. The battlefield set up is unique, imaginative and filled with nuance that sets it apart from the big names in this category. I’m not a huge fan of change so at first glance the orientation of the battlefield filled me with a slight feeling of dread, but that was quickly dispatched as I played. It’s incredibly early days and we all have seen things pop up later out of nowhere that can kill the fun and I have no doubt things will show up in this game as well which means the game is only as good as developers and how they react when stupid happens and so we will wait and see. Right now I love it and this early in the game playing I hold off on reviews but I had to declare my love that I hope doesn’t make me look like an idiot later.

I am loving the design here; it’s a fair bit deeper in strategy and much prettier in graphics and music than most of the similar titles out there, and so far has been solid in terms of matchmaking and gameplay. My only complaint is that as I’m learning new strategies and making new decks, I find myself wishing for more deck slots to store them in... (there are six, so it’s not really a problem on their end, hah).

This game is fast paced, it is a bit different from other RTS games I have played. I have been playing nonstop for the last two days. I enjoy the maps and units. It seems like there is a lot to learn but I’m having fun figuring it out. I would definitely recommend that you try it out.

Been playing for a few days. Great graphics and flow. More and more the game will crash during a battle. It reloads pretty quick and 95% of the time will load you back into the game but it is hard to win when you are inactive for 8-10 seconds. BUT...for the first time, it crashed TWICE during one battle and crashes are occurring about 33% of the time over the past 12 hours. Fix it! When fixed, I will update this to 5 plus stars.

Like so many other games in this genre, if you want to win you have to pay. You CAN play the game without purchasing packs, but you WILL quickly fall behind on the power and variety of cards you need to be competitive. Expect an initial short period where it will be even with your opponents. Start moving up at all and you find yourself fighting against opponents with much better cards that are way more advanced then your own. And there is nothing you can do against pay to win people. So, fun for a bit but unless you invest money you will get frustrated.
