I left optimum, however I came back because of it’s competitive prices and overall great customer service. I installed the optimum app on Wednesday however I started having issues within hours of their installation. The T.V and remote will not sync and I have no use for any of the apps as they are non accessible at the moment. The only way I can access Netflix is if I can get through with the remote. However it only works on my main box and not the other two boxes I pay for. I have a tech coming tomorrow to address these issues however it’s inconvenient that I started having issues within 2 hours of the tech leaving my home.
Everything from the guide layout (cannot scroll to see what’s on more than an hour in advance and forget looking back to see if a show was on earlier. You can’t.) to trying to find and then watch things on demand is practically impossible. Nothing is intuitive and constantly having to scroll and push buttons to find out simple information. When trying to watch on iPad the on demand menu is ridiculous. Episodes are out of order...certain tv channels show ‘error try back later’. You also can no longer input a specific channel number...you have to scroll the guide or use up/down arrow on app on iPad. Or I just can’t find the option. There is NOTHING to like about Altice. No clock on boxes? Seriously? Even the voice remote often brings you to a screen that you then have to choose from to find what MIGHT be what you’re looking for. I also notice information for most channels on tv on demand items are missing info. Ugh. We have a second home that has xfinity and there is no comparison. Optimum has always been a little behind in quality but this is the worst.
The altice experience for our home was an overall awful experience. But this review is for the altice app. After a couple years of using altice app, we moved out of state and Xfinity is now our local provider. Right away the one feature xfinity offers that altice was missing for years is the ability to multi task while still watching tv through the altice app. Unless I’m missing something, you can’t carry over a small video screen of what you’re watching on the iPad over to a different app. With xfinity, I’m writing this review right now while catching up on one of my shows that’s playing on the upper right hand corner of my screen. altice refusing to add this necessary feature is puzzling. I’m pretty sure altice devs are fully aware of this feature, it’s clearly missing by design. Without doing any research I’d imagine it’s one of the most requested features. Yet they haven’t added it?? Until they do, their app deserves to be poorly rated because of its limitations on the iPad. Not to mention lots of intermittent buffering while streaming content.
My entire experience with Optimum has been horrendous, from double charges on my bank account, to unstable internet connection, etc... but now I cannot even log into my Altice/Optimum account! As I try to log in, it says wrong password and gives me a prompt to reset my password. I go ahead and change the password to encounter yet again the same wrong password message. The app was bad already, not allowing you to watch the tv channels that you are already paying for if you are not connected to your home WiFi? Come on, what a joke of a company and services (don’t even get me started with the Altice one boxes...). The only reason a went with them and not another provider is because sadly at my current address no other company offers service. Would give 0 stars if I could.
First off, I have written 3 reviews that have not been posted because I am trying to tell the truth. 1. This app is horrendous. Do you want to watch live tv outside of your home? Well guess what? With this app you can’t! You need to be connected to your home network... but 90% of the time it says “home network disconnected” so where can I watch tv? 2. My cable boxes do not work. Like at all. I can’t watch tv on, demand, anything. My current box in my room is unpluged. I am paying for nothing and it’s embarrassing. 3. The app freezes every 3 minutes. If you SOMEHOW get into this embarrassment of an app, you can absolutely watch tv. But guess what, it’s going to freeze. Every 3-5 minutes nonetheless. I want to watch a sports game, well can’t watch it all because it’s going to freeze. Conclusion: if you are considers optimum, RUN. Don’t do anything do not. It’s horrible, I am switching ASAP. They are scammers and do not deserve money. To all the optimum workers who work on this app and cable, I hope you all lose your jobs, no one should be employed that is this incompetent.
