SMS Backup+

I wish users would stop blaming the app developer for it no longer working. I do believe the developer should work to get the authentication fixed, however IMAP works just fine for the time. Its super simple to set up too, all you need is the imap server, your username and password. I'm only knocking a star because while this workaround works, this really needs to be changed for convenience sake. This is the best non-root backup method on the market, and I would love to see it flourish once more! IF google won't cooperate, then possibly look into another backup option, like dropbox, or a file transfer or something of the sorts.

I use to love this app, but now google will no longer allow you to backup your info. When you try to connect it gives the following error: Could not get token from system. Do you want to try the browser authentication method? Once you hit okay another error occurs: Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app. This app has not been verified yet by Google in order to use Google Sign In.

This is one of the best app I've had and worked flawless for years till Google decided to change their system! I can't blame this app or say anything bad. We need to inform Google that they need to allow this app to work with their system again! Too many phones and email accounts to change just because of Google! So disappointing!

Contrary to a lot of the reviewers here that couldn't get the app to connect via Google Auth, it actually DOES work if you configure the connection to use IMAP instead of Google Auth (which no longer works after Google made changes to the API in August 2019). Search the web for "Android Police SMS Backup" to find step by step instructions or go the Android Police website and look for it there.

I used to love this app. It dumped a copy of all my SMS messages into a Gmail folder, which was very handy. Apparently Google changed something and so this App has not worked since August, 4 months ago! The App company never told me, which is bad. Even worse, they can't fix this in four months? Look, if Google won't cooperate, it would be ok to view my SMS backup in a non-Google app. But this is irresponsible to just leave so many customers hanging!
