We love our Alexa devices. This app is pretty user friendly and it has changed a lot over the last couple years. We use this app all the time for reminders, alarms, lists, and our smart devices. Because I know the app is always updating and changing, a couple things that would be really nice n 1) Widget options for the lists and alarms 2) Schedule options for the smart devices.
I have a bluetooth speaker connected to Alexa Echo. The bluetooth turns off automatically when not in use after 15 minutes. I can voice Alexa to reconnect but I would like it to happen automatically when I need it to. I have tried everything. If Alexa can connect to bluetooth then why can't it automatically connect to it when needed. I tried grouping, preferred speaker, everything and it IS paired. I tried a routine, there is nothing I can do there nor in skills. It shouldn't be this difficult.
Took looking up a couple videos on youtube to figure out how to link devices but after doing a couple it became simple. Within 15 minutes I had my entire entertainment system linked to use voice commands including my stereo receiver, tv, and xbox. Pretty sweet being able to simply say, "Alexa, play songs by Pantera on home stereo" when I get home from work and within seconds be listening to the sweet sound of Dimebag's guitar.
The BFF you can't hug, but can switch off at will. Efficient and friendly. My kids laugh when Alexa and I argue over some petty thing or another. She travels well, too, and for free. Kidding aside, I've been using Alexa since the first version. The app gets better. My favorite features: - Calendar/reminders -Lists and to-do's -Help me find my phone -Music player, (radio to Prime) -Use with Ring doorbell to see who's at my door. As for privacy issues, that's a global matter.
Intuitive to use and a great portal into controlling your IoT devices. Routines are useful, though a bit limited due to pretty poor ability to actually do anything with Alexa skills. This is slightly mitigated by the ability to trigger IFTTT actions in a routine but it's pot luck which manufacturer supports it. Alexa is not very capable of doing many day to day things like reading from multiple Google calendars (eg work and personal), navigation. It can't do geofencing to trigger routines either
