GyPSy Guide’s narrated driving tour for Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, is an excellent way to enjoy all the benefits of a guided tour while you explore at your own pace. There are 460+ audio points that play automatically along the scenic drive, featuring the best things to see and do, stories, tips and driving directions. Professional tour guides share advice on how to prioritize your time at recommended “not to be missed” viewpoints, suggested side-trips and places of interest. Tours work offline, using free GPS signal and location services, so no data roaming, network, or wifi is required while touring. Visit www.gypsyguide.com for route maps, sample audio, tips and advice and what to know before you go. It’s Just Like Having a Tour Guide in Your Car™ WHAT TO EXPECT: America’s first National Park – Yellowstone, continues to awe visitors with amazing geothermal features; geysers, boiling mud, fumaroles and hot springs are abundant throughout the park, as well as spectacular mountains, lakes, canyons and rivers. It is also home to a diverse range of wildlife including grizzly bears, bison, wolves, elk and pronghorn. Grand Teton National Park serene beauty is a fantastic contrast to the volatility of Yellowstone. With perhaps even better wildlife spotting opportunities and fewer visitors vying for that perfect image. As we drive the Grand Loop Drive, you’ll appreciate the geology 101 recap to better understand the popular geothermal wonders like Old Faithful in the Upper Geyser Basin and Grand Prismatic Spring in the Midway Geyser Basin, while we reveal some lessor visited areas, that are equally stunning. See why it’s considered a megafauna location with the largest concentration of mammals in the lower 48 and uncover the story behind how a tiny Yellowstone bacterium helps solves crimes. And visit the historical remnants of the pioneering settlers on their forge West and the visit the location of one of the most popular images help to promote the Park. Along with many other stories, tips and directions that will help refine and enhance your Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park experience. WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Some of the highlights along the route include; • Old Faithful and the Upper Geyser Basin • Grand Prismatic Spring • Mud Volcano and Sulphur Cauldron • The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone • West Thumb • Tower Fall • Mammoth Hot Springs • Fountain Paint Port • Grand Tetons • Jenny Lake • Elk Refuge • Tower Fall • Mammoth Hot Springs • Fountain Paint Port BATTERY USAGE: ++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle. IPADS: ** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note that Apple only install these on the iPad Wifi + Cellular models. Wifi only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically. DOWNLOADING: The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks. This app is absolutely amazing. I never write reviews for anything but I had to come back and write one for this... having traveled to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons for the first time last week, this app was so so helpful in all that we did there. The app not only guides you as you are traveling along (maybe having half an idea of what you’d like to do), it gives you tons of background historical and scientific info about what you are visiting. The guide friendly directs you as you drive along and makes helpful suggestions about stops throughout the parks. I really appreciated the categorization of ‘do not miss’ verses suggested stops. All of this together resulted in us not only navigating the vast parks painlessly, we saw so much more than we would have seen without it. We also learned an incredible amount of history and and scientific side notes that made what we were seeing more meaningful than without the guide. Really impressed by it. Very well done; developed with much thought about what a first time traveler to the park would need. Lots of info; very kind and polite commentary/ direction as well as very appreciated humor thrown in. Do not hesitate to purchase this app to guide you through the park if you’ve never been. Honestly, it’s like having your own personal Park Ranger in the car with you! And he’s funny and very pleasant to listen to!!

A friend told us about this app one week before we went to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Wow! This app is the best! It truly was like having a private tour guide in our backseat. “Chuck” was amazing. He knew exactly where we were and told us about upcoming sites and places of interest. Along the way he gave us very interesting facts on history, flora and fauna, the ecosystem, etc. Every one of “Chuck’s” suggestions were absolutely right on. In fact we were coming up to Great Fountain Geyser, which we would have never known to stop at, and “Chuck” very enthusiastically told us to pull in and that if we were lucky, and the timing was just right, we would get to see this geyser which only goes off once every 12 hours. Well once again “Chuck” was absolutely right and we got to the geyser 10 minutes before it blew. It was very exciting and I’m still impressed that somehow the app knew the timing was just right. I absolutely recommend that you buy this app. It will be the best $10 you ever spent. I don’t think a real human tour guide would have been any better. One tip that the app doesn’t tell you is if your car has CarPlay, you can plug it into the USB port and play it through the speakers. This was a much more enjoyable experience than plugging it into the 12V and listening through the iPhone speaker.

My husband and I had only 3 days in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, and it was a last minute thing, so we were totally unprepared. We didn’t know where to go or what to see first etc. Gypsy guide made all the difference in the world for us, and we really enjoyed the short little “lessons” about some of the features and the history of the park itself, particularly the part about Lewis and Clark. And it was so cool how our tour guide just automatically started at the West entrance where we were. One day I forgot to open the app at the entrance so I was worried our app guide “wouldn’t be able to find us”, but “he” did. He started talking about the feature we were at and told us where to go from there. The only thing he didn’t tell us to do that we did do and think is a MUST do for anyone is Mystic Falls in Biscuit Basin. It’s a must do. Take the lower trail and hop from boulder to boulder in the river to get to the falls. You can literally make your way behind the falls without getting anything wet except your feet and calves. It was such a fun little adventure and is my favorite place in all of Yellowstone. Lastly, we really liked gypsy guide’s voice. He was great! From now on, I will never do a trip without this fella!

For some reason, my Googlemaps and Waze weren’t picking up the location of what I entered when I was ready to drive through Yellowstone through to the Grand Tetons. Yet I remembered I’d purchased this app to learn a bit of what I’d be seeing along the way, and fired it up. What I didn’t expect is that this app pretty much saved me!! Because of the GPS awareness, it would preview upcoming forks in the road well in advance so I was confident driving in the direction that matched my overall plan. (Not sure why this worked when the other apps didn’t- but yay!!) I loved that the voice was not always on. I liked that you could pause the narrative too (which I learned after trying to film which videos and hoping not to hear the narrator’s voice while recording. Using another app doesn’t silence the guy.) I really appreciated learning tidbits about the history and the nature I was passing through. A great use of location-based services. Well worth the investment... I’m walking away with greater appreciation for where I drove through or where I chose to stop and hike around...

We planned a week-long family vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, my first time visiting the parks. I did days of research on the web, bought a couple of guidebooks and studied them, made notes on what we should see. I came across this app and decided to buy it based on the reviews. Even though I had done a lot of my own research ahead of time, the app was really, really hepful. So nice to have it tell you what is coming up ahead so you can decide whether to stop to see different things. And the history of the parks, and information the geology and wildlife, were fascinating! No question in my mind it was worth the $10 and it made the trip more enjoyable and educational. Small problems with glitches (app played narration for the wrong travel direction), and we heard the same stories several times while driving around the park over a few days. Also I wish you could set the map to travel-direction-up instead of North-up. But, the app was so incredibly helpful that I'm giving it 5 stars despite those small problems.
