The most recent update took away the passenger brief module on airport weather and now causes long (timing out) downloads resulting in incomplete weather package downloads.
The vertical profile is a huge improvement over previous versions! No more need to iteratively scan different flight levels RPM forecasts and the punch and zoom functionality within the vertical profile really helps me get a better picture of the forecasted turbulence before and during flight without connectivity. I have used it on a couple of Hawaii flights and one trans-con and so far I really like this new version.
On a recent trip it was unusable offline. Online, it worked fine - I was able to download all the weather maps that I needed and it all looked fine. Then when I tried to use it in the plane - zippo. Freeze, crash. Rinse and repeat. Tried the double click/close thing several times - nothing. Totally useless. But then, the next day, after downloading new weather, it worked just fine. Surprising that this can't be easily fixed.
Just updated the app, and I like what I see- what WSI does best, weather and info for pilots! I like this update and it something that should be expected by the powerhouse in weather service provider. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to future updates on what should be a solid requirement by pilots.
I love the briefing section. Great way to organize weather and notams for my flights. But why can't I take it with me? Without an active wifi connection, which is illegal in flight for part 121, there is no way to review the weather and notams. The program won't even open. I still have to print out reams of paper for every destination and alternate. Please fix this app so I can take my preflight briefing with me.
