User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
The app is ok on a phone but doesn’t work well on tablets. It is stuck in portrait mode. This is especially bad when trying to watch streaming content on a tablet. All the other golf major apps allowed landscape mode. So essentially even if you have a tablet you might as well use your smart phone and leave the tablet at home. Also every time I start it there seems to be a new version. The Open ends tomorrow so I guess the upgrades will stop by 7pm tomorrow. Someone should tell them about beta testing before the event. No one likes three putting. Especially at the US Open.
Just downloaded this year’s app, and it repeatedly crashes immediately upon opening. Do you even test this prior to it going live???? The U.S. Open app last year was complete trash and it looks like this year will be no different. You have 361 days each year to prepare for this, and yet you still fail. Shows what kind of commitment you have to your fans. Just do us all a favor and copy the Masters app, which is outstanding. I would give this app zero stars if possible. Giant fail USGA. This happens year after year, your incompetence is difficult to even believe. Treat all aspects of your national championship like the Masters treats it, like it is the most important golf tournament in the world.
How the USGA can allow such a horrible app to be published is stunning. The other three majors, plus Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, etc all have beautiful iOS integration and the sites are outstanding on an iPad. The lack of a fully functional iPad version clearly shows the USGA has no idea how people consume entertainment in 2019. Pebble has amazing vistas and I can only imagine how they would have looked in full screen on my iPad. I run a small business and even my facility has a website that is optimized for all mobile platforms. The only bigger joke than this site is many of the new rules the USGA decided to put into place this year. I really hope someone loses their job for this error.
Shows as an update - won’t download; search for the app - says newer version available still won’t download; delete last year’s app - new app still won’t download. If Apple thinks they’ve vetted this app before allowing it to be published in the App Store- they’ve failed miserably and deserve to be DQ’d according to My Official Rules For Golf Apps. Note to developer- put the player data in a table that can be updated instead of the app - we all know the field is in a state of flux until qualifying is complete - even at the last minute alternates could get in if a qualifier with draws - look up the word “fungible” and make it your design focus for your app data!
It’s a great app for checking scores, especially since you can select your favorite players to show at the top, this way you don’t have to search through everyone. However, the video streaming is not good. The ads load right away, in HD not pixelated at all and no problems playing the ads. Then the video comes up and it is pixelated, delayed, and pauses then skips a lot. And every time you start a video you watch more (clear) ads. Hopefully they make enough money from the ads to have better streaming
