Completely Hands Free!

Listen to your phone play Pennsylvania Turnpike travel advisories near you, in your direction of travel. As you travel, it will automatically keep you updated.
You don’t need to register, you don’t need to sign up anywhere for anything. The app uses the phone’s built-in GPS to stream nearby alerts.

Turn it on before you leave and it will start talking when you are getting near a roadway problem. Alerts pause when you are on the phone, and pick up where they left off when you finish.

How it Works
Start the application before starting out of your driveway. You will hear active Pennsylvania Turnpike advisories that are within your range. Now put down the phone and focus on driving. There is now nothing you need to touch on the phone, and nothing you need to read on the phone. This is completely hands-free.
The application will remain on while you drive, "broadcasting" any travel alerts for reported conditions within a set mile-range (that you can set for yourself) of your current location. If your phone is able to provide a high enough GPS precision, we will only notify you of advisories in your direction (you can change this in your settings to provide all directions, all the time!).

Conditions will be broadcast once, and then the broadcast stream will go quiet until:

a. There is an update to an advisory in range, or
b. Until you have just come within range of another advisory or
c. A set time period has elapsed (that you get to set) and you want to re-hear all advisories that are still in range

If you get a call, or make a call while a travel alert is playing, the alert will pause, and will resume playing when the call has ended. We also provide a user option to allow advisories to play while on a call, but requires a mobile provider who allows data access during calls.

User Modifications Features/ Experience
You can modify several options. These configurations are saved on your phone.
a. The advisory replay interval
b. The range (in miles) for hearing advisories
c. Whether to always hear advisories in all directions
d. Types of Turnpike advisories to play
e. Whether to permit breakthrough of audio while on a call

The application gives you audio player controls for Play, Pause, Stop, Skip, and Replay All.

You do not need to register with us or with the Pennsylvania Turnpike to use this app or to get these alerts. We don't get or record any identifying information about you or your phone. By default, you will be elected into reporting your device-determined speed along with your location to our servers, but you can elect to opt-out from within the application. You must opt-out of this selection each time the application is restarted.

The Technology
The application is based on Information Logistics' patent pending "Open Microphone Platform", which is a queue-driven streaming technology platform used in combination with your phone's built-in GPS. The data for the system is the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's travel advisory data.

IMPORTANT - Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

IMPORTANT - NON-GPS DEVICES This application will have some limited functionality on these devices. You may hear advisories for both directions of the PA Turnpike if your phone-reported location is not highly accurate.

** For the most consistent streaming, try to keep TRIP Talk as the active application on your device and avoid utilizing and/or installing applications while TRIP Talk is in use as much as possible.

If it's one thing that pisses me off, delays on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Whether it is lane closures due to construction or an accident, there's not much you can do once you are on the turnpike until you get off at the next exit. Then you have the imbeciles who are the definition of the term gaper delay. It must be unique to KYW radio, because for the year and a half I lived in Texas, nobody in the free education class, Except for the instructor who used to live in Philadelphia knew the term. However the condition exists anywhere that people have to slow down and look at the incident going on even though it is not directly impacting they are drive. Except for the fact that when you multiply them times many drivers doing the same stupid thing, when they create that very condition, no the delay is in the opposite direction or no we are near the lane that they're driving in. So the premise of this app appears to be a problem solver,as provided you plan ahead. That said, I will certainly give my two cents once I'm on the turnpike and using it. Right now I'm addressing the criticisms. Just about any app can be set to quit. So it's confusing as to hearing constant updates, even with the app in the background if you just quit. Everyone of my streaming apps stop streaming upon quitting. You could also use the setting for low battery when you need to use the staff and the low setting will disable non-essential settings and apps.

Great app, very useful if traveling the Turnpike. My only complaint is that I can't seem to stop it from talking 24/7. When the app is closed it should stop talking until you open it again, but this doesn't seem to be the case, it just starts talking when ever there is a new advisory. Love the app, please fix the problem.

App works great. In order to turn it off, you need to know how to work your iphone. Double click your home button, tap and hold the icon, then tap the red minus icon. Works for all your apps!

Why spend taxpayer dollars on an app that tells us about road closures? Waze does this for you already. Seems like the developers did a good job, and the marketing got me to notice the app and try it out. Kudos. However the idea to build this app to begin with is where it all went wrong. Another example of government waste. The private sector has this problem solved already.

Same, could not turn off advisory, had to delete the app. If they fix the problem, I'll try it again.
