Someone may benefit from this story, but I know they can be annoying so skip to the end if you’d rather - A little over two years ago I had finally started to lose some weight and went from weighing 150 to 130 in a couple months, gradually dropping pounds. I felt great mentally and physically, and thought I was doing a good thing; only to have my significant other break things off with me because according to them I had developed a destructive eating disorder, and they “didn’t want to watch me destroy myself”. It crushed what I had achieved, and in a naive attempt to win them back I started eating 3x what I was in a day. I quickly not only gain roughly three times more than what I weighed, I also developed an actual eating disorder that wrecked my body and my life. Because of this person I lost all of what I worked hard for and the last two years have been an uphill battle to control my calorie intake. This app is helping me rebuild the self control I lost and gives me the opportunity to deduct whether I’m eating because I’m hungry or because my emotions are out of control. Full five stars from me, no complaints yet. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I got this app and paid the Christmas Special. This app is very unique to intermittent fasting. You can log your meal, hunger level, and start/end of fast. Not only does it tracks your fast - it lets you know what is happening to your body as you fast which is super cool. There are also quotes and helpful articles. So far I have used the app for 4 days and lost 4 lbs. If you consider your self as a religious person read on: I decided to get this app because I decided to do fasting for health and religious reasons. Though the functionality, articles, and quotes are great, It does talk about evolution. I don’t not believe in this. I simply digest what I think is appropriate and move forward. Maybe one day the user can indicate specifics on what articles they would like to read in the initial status when creating their profile. Still, love the information portrayed especially in an easy and fun manner to read. Well worth it. 😎
Simple Fasting is overall a great app. Not only is it simple to use, it offers built in support through “personal insights” and end-of-fast congratulations. I would, however, change 2 things. 1. In the new update, you can track drink consumption. This is great, but it’s irritating that I have to log a glass of water or cup of coffee separately from my meal or snack log if I want it to count toward my daily consumption. It would be easier if there were an optional drop down menu to log serving size of a drink just within the meal or snack log. It doesn’t make sense to me that I would click “water” under the drink tab for a meal and then go back to separately log that 8oz glass after. 2. Though IF can be for any diet, I wish that the food options for meals were more customizable. For example, I am trying to follow a vegan whole foods plant based diet, like the one prescribed by Dr. Greger. So I wish that I could replace the meat and dairy options (which I just have to scroll past every time I log a meal) with more specific vegetable, fruit, legume, whole grains, and nuts options. Currently, I use Dr. Greger’s daily dozen app alongside this one, but ideally I would only need one app to track my diet.
I’m not a fan of how they have you create a profile through Facebook or Apple, then they have you enter in all your information and after 5 minutes of answering questions about yourself then they want you to sign up for a paid membership. That’s super messed up. Be up front with your costs and don’t waste my time! I’ll stick with other similar apps that don’t charge you anything for the same feature. Update, this is the developers response to my review in their own words: Please keep in mind that we don’t MAKE you pay, you can easily skip the payment screen after on boarding and have access to the full app functionality with a grace period. My response to that: Uhhh yeah duh that’s how trials work. Besides did I say in my initial review that they MAKE me pay? The reality is that I do HAVE to pay eventually to use the app even if I utilize the short “grace period”. My issue is that your advertisement said the app was free and only after filling out all my information and linking my Facebook account do you guys tell me that the app costs money to use. This is textbook sketchy data mining tactics and I don’t appreciate the tacky response to a very honest review.
I like this app so far, and paid for the yr subscription. What I think would make this app better is to have a place where you can ask questions and get feedback. I don’t understand the work hrs that are listed and didn’t see one for 4/10. It would just be nice to be able to ask a question when I come across something on the app the I don’t understand or remember. I don’t see a place to log my steps since I don’t have my phone with me at work it gets an inaccurate reading for the steps I take and it’s not compatible with fit bit. I also think it had a few more general food choices and if it could explain what an unhealthy choice is. Also it needs a candy choice since I tend to eat a lot of cookies/candy this way I could see how much. Unless that would be considered a dessert. It would be good if it broke down what certain sections are. There needs to be some more explanation about things on the app that are just very generalized. But I like it so far
