Productive - Habit Tracker

For a long time I had been aware of my habits, especially the bad ones. The same old habits that keep you stuck in the same old cycles and patterns in life. However the nature of habit is of course to do things on autopilot, and you only become aware of what you’ve been doing after it’s been done, and then get annoyed with yourself. I would always make strong intentions to create new habits and change old ones, but I would simply forget 5 minutes later after doing something routine, and therefore slipping into old habit patterns. I haven’t been using this app for long time as of yet, however already the reminders give me the nudge I need to take action and pull me out of my normal autopilot state. Each day once I have completed all of the habits I have set myself, I feel a great sense of accomplishment, and a renewed self-esteem. Big changes in life start with the first small step, and becoming more aware of self sabotaging habits is the first step. I really do love this app, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to start reprogramming their habits! Thank you!

I have to say that when I first obtained this app on a trial basis, then I was sceptical. Apps of this kind have never lived up to my expectations, either falling short, or too complex and fiddly, having the adverse effect of what I was trying to achieve in the first place, i.e. Alleviate stress of 21st Century life. I was surprised how easy it was to use, with nothing overly complex, and ensuring that one’s “habits” were controllable and thus having a positive effect. I was so pleased at the way I easily adapted to this app, that I simply had to ‘promote’ to the upgraded version. I think this would be beneficial for anyone who wants to think seriously about their “habits” because sticking to the few that the free version provide certainly wasn’t enough, well not for me anyway. I am loving this app, using it diligently, and intelligently, and my “habits” are no longer the “drudge” that many undoubtedly were!

There’s a lot that this app does do: it’s immaculate, easy to use & an absolutely great concept. I struggle with making myself keep ontop of routine because in my job, it’s constantly changing. However - I would recommend allowing a few more habits to be created without updating to premium. There’s no way I can try the app out properly with only three habits. I need more than that to get through the week! & because the ‘subscription continues until cancelled’ I do not trust myself to take a free trial - those of us with busy enough lives to warrant having a to-do app probably don’t remember trivial things like cancelling an app subscription! I might consider allowing a few more habits to be made on the free version OR setting up a cancellation feature. Also, this app would be absolutely fantastic if you had a simple to-do list feature also - somewhere to write one-off tasks as well as keep on top of things you repeat regularly. Just something to consider (would be absolutely unparalleled if this existed).

I’m on day 2 of using the app and so far it’s proven a great tool. I’ve been able to set reminders for my habits and help me to reinforce behaviours I sometimes skip when I’m tired such as stretching before bed or remembering to take my vitamins. The interface is really user friendly and it’s very aesthetically pleasing. One note for the developers: maybe consider doing a monthly subscription rather than one annual payment. When I saw £24 payment flash up if I didn’t cancel after my free trial I initially panicked and uninstalled the app without starting my free trial as that’s quite a lot of money for an app I might not use after a few weeks. When I thought about it and realised that was only £2 or so a month I reinstalled and started my trial. The big initial payment may put off quite a few people from using what is otherwise a fantastically helpful app.

I am disappointed with this app, after paying for a subscription it doesn’t work in the way I want. I contacted support ages ago who were helpful but ultimately couldn’t help and it’s not been updated since. I’d like my habits to be set up as a minimum number of times a week. For example one yoga session a week as a minimum. The problem is sometimes I might do two or three, but the app no longer allows you to continue tracking habits once you’ve reached the goal. I found a hack around it by using Siri shortcuts to trigger the habit which then adds it to the counter, but seems very weird you can’t do this manually. Also if you change any of the goals the stats will totally disappear. Going by what I said above I’d like to start with my goal of yoga once a week, start small. Once I’ve mastered that I want to increase it to twice a week. Now all the stats are totally reset, which is silly as you’re only increasing the target. I can’t imagine this use case is that weird? I would find setting a higher target and failing every week demotivating. I love the interface and general feel of the app, I think it just needs to have some more comprehensive customisation. I understand that simplicity is a selling point, but there could be some advanced options for power users. Would love to know if these features are on your roadmap, I’ve gone back to a good old fashioned paper chart which works for me.
