My membership let’s me use different facilities across Westminster, eg Paddington Rec and Marshall Street, but the app will only let me easily book/ view classes from my main local centre, meaning I have to keep track of one set of bookings via the app and bookings for other leisure centres through a different booking process and track their status separately via email - completely defeats the object of the app to streamline the customer experience. You need to allow people to book at any leisure centre in one place and view all their bookings in one place. Just add an option to select venue before you book, and maybe to add/ automatically identify favourite venues so you don’t have to scroll through the whole long list of venues every time.
I was lured into downloading this, just because I wanted to book a court at my local leisure centre, and they’re slow to pick up the phone. Now I find out that this company is taking over our local leisure centre and hundreds of others around the country, and I have to have membership just to use facilities. Everything that is bad about the leisure industry is captured in this App, which is a time wasting barrier to usage of public sports facilities. Public health and mental health will decline as this App quietly excludes people, so I feel perfectly reasonable in calling this out at an Evil App. There is a special place in you know where, for the people involved in designing and releasing this App. Despite these feelings, I tried to play ball and join, as I wanted to use these facilities. The App extracts lots of information from you in about 4 stages. I got stuck at the 3rd one when despite having entered all my details , the button enabling you to confirm membership just hung, and left me waiting. I can see no way forward. The App is completely dysfunctional, and over the long term people in this country will be less healthy and die sooner because it exists... unless something is done.
I just had a chance to look at the newer and improved updated app, since they rehashed it all to enable login with emails and passwords instead of silly ID numbers and random pins, and sad to say the app is completely useless now. Prior to this - it was pretty good for booking onto classes, and allowed u to save 'favourite centres' to search classes easier. I could never login in to see these mythical points or anything else for that matter so I stopped trying. Now with the new app - they've managed to 'down-date' it. Can no longer save more than once centre. No obvious place to login. Can't view any booked classes - constantly timing out. Can't search new classes because it crashes. This didn't change when I deleted and re-downloaded it either! A completely obsolete app. Well done everyone active app designers - you win the prize. Just not quite the prize most people yearn for!
I’ve been using the app for a while now to book squash courts at my local sports centres. It’s great that I can see availability on my phone and book there and then. The ability to store my payment info is fantastic making payment a 1 click process. Two points: 1. during the recent upgrade it appears some bookings went missing - I was able to book a court someone had previously booked and paid for. This I assume was a one off, and it needs to be. User must be able to trust the system. 2. After making a payment I get an error screen instead of a booking confirmation page. Receipt is emailed and booking completes but the app appears to be missing the confirmation page (or permissions are wrong etc). Contrary to other reviewers, I think it’s great that these guys run more than one centre. I can check availability in multiple places from one app. They also have a proven track record in delivering well maintained sports facilities nationally. They have been a refreshing improvement on all my local centres which until EA took over. were poorly maintained, tired and tatty.
Impressed that the app keeps getting better now have facility at last to pay in app for fines incurred for no show or late cancellation but to be proactive wouldn't it be good for us busy people who book random classes on top of our regular ones thinking we want a change or just forget we have booked and need reminding .. an alert ( before the 4 hour penalty time) that flashes up on our screens on the day of classes to a tell us what's booked and remind us either that we need to cancel outside of the 4 hours or incur a charge this frees up spaces and minimises no shows and keeps fines at bay
