Beeminder

I tried beeminder with two of three automatic syncs: Fitbit, apple health, and habitica. I had nothing but problems with all three including false derailments because Fitbit didn’t update the information correctly until after midnight. The manual entries worked fine but you have to baby sit the app if you try to use anything else.

I’ve used beeminder off and on for years. I’ve just read existing reviews, and agree w the good ones. The ones stating problems are not my experience of the app, and I’d encourage others that—having experienced using this service on computers and multiple iPhones and iOS progressions—the problems seem idiosyncratic (as in not generalized). Particularly since any time I had problems, I found the beeminder team responsive. And always wanting to be fair. Ultimately it has a lot to do with what you put into it. But it’s an effective commitment device. And no one explains Akrasia like the beeminder videos. Helpful! What prompted me to finally write a review was my surprise at finding beeminder’s interface (admittedly basic in graphics) superior to perhaps better known app of StickK, which I’ve just been using this go round. While the graphics are basic, the services and info at beeminder are better imo. Hope this helps you choose an app to fight off the akrasia zone.

Before Beeminder, I only knew how to program computers and climb trees. I used Beeminder to finally learn Chinese, write a book, get in shape, build my business, create a personal website, start flossing, and learn to longboard! And twenty other things! I’ve been a Beeminder user for years, and I really credit a lot of my life improvements on their service. Their app has worked fine for me along that time, but their new update has made it a lot snappier for me. The Apple Health interoperability is also great!

If you're a fan of Beeminder, the app is a great mobile companion. The two most important tasks for the mobile user are checking their limits on upcoming goals and entering data. Both are easily accomplished.
