Puzzle Page - Daily Games!

I love the puzzles on this app, and really enjoy the variety every day. It reminds me of the puzzle pages from newspapers long ago and every bit as enjoyable. My issue with it is that it is not always possible to zoom in on the screen. The new Colour Picture Cross is particularly difficult. Even wearing reading glasses I have to concentrate very hard to make out the tiny numbers that make up the clues, which takes much of the enjoyment out of the game. Similarly when “pencilling in” possibilities in sudoku etc. Maybe fine for youngsters but certainly a struggle for me (... although at 58 my eyesight isn’t generally a problem). Hopefully, now they have set it up so all devices link together, I will be able to do the ones with tiny figures on the iPad instead of the iPhone, which should help. I couldn’t recommend the app to elderly puzzle fans, or those with any sort of visual difficulties, but if you’ve 20:20 vision you’ll love it!

This is a great game. I love puzzles so I am biased. There’s a good variety of puzzles to do with varying difficulty. The game is well maintained by the developers and there are regular updates. I will say the subscription fee is slightly too much for me, it’s about double what I pay for my paper puzzler I get in the mail but if it comes down I’d definitely subscribe. A the moment I’m happy to watch ads for tokens to play. I’d like to see some cryptic crosswords included but the difficulty with them would be having letter to choose from. Maybe the developers can think of a way around this or even write a new game for us cryptic lovers. If you like puzzles download this game and have some fun. Update. So the day I wrote the review above a new update came out. The way I play the game is to watch ads to get tokens. Before this update you could open the game, potter about for about a minute then watch an ad and play a puzzle. The update has changed this. It now takes many minutes or at least that’s what it seems like before you can watch an ad. So I end up logging in and get frustrated waiting to play an ad. This has ruined the game for me, I close all apps on my phone and when I do it to this app I have the long wait, then I forget I was waiting open the phone and shut the apps and we’re back to the start. Ah well this app lasted a good few months before it was ruined. Deleted because it’s now frustrating to play.

This was, up until the most recent update my favourite puzzle app. I would log in every day and do the daily challenges, collecting the daily bonus. I would watch countless ad videos to build up my coin pot and even complete TapJoy tasks to keep my coins topped off. Every day I would collect the loyalty bonus and watch as that days puzzles were unlocked and had a 50% discount applied to the puzzle’s coin cost for that day only, which didn’t matter as I would regularly complete that days page utilising that 50% discount. Then today the app updated and Bam no more 50% discount so I now need double the amount of coins to even complete that days page. I had been on the verge of taking the plunge and signing up for the monthly subscription, having completed, and enjoyed the 7 day free trial. Now however I feel as though they are pushing me towards this subscription and I’m super fed up with developers, especially those who have been honest and trustworthy in the past (or at least seemed that way), pulling this crap. There are far too many good puzzle apps on the App Store to continue playing on an apps that use this specific tactic. So thanks for the memories Puzzle Page... but stick a fork in me guys I’m done... this app is uninstalled

I love different puzzles so this really appealed to me. It’s obviously free to download and when you start, you get a set amount of tokens that you have to use to play the puzzles. I didn’t mind this at first until I realised that unless you want to pay cash to buy more of these tokens, you quickly run out and can’t play. It even costs further tokens to replay puzzles that you’ve already unlocked!! You get one token every 5 minutes (I think), but puzzles cost 10-20 tokens each so it would take a while to have enough. Every now and then, a puzzle would reward me with tokens (5) but it seems random and not frequent. It also gives you the opportunity to watch a video to earn 5 tokens but after trying to watch it 4 times and having the app force close every time, I gave up. The puzzles are great and there’s a good range. The majority don’t take more than a couple of minutes to complete which makes the slow process of getting more tokens seem even worse. I’ve run out, I have no interest in paying real money and will therefore be uninstalling this app. Such a shame as it’s a smart looking app with great content. It just isn’t “free enough” for me.

Update to my review below. The daily bonus options have been brought back. Thank you! My rating goes back up to 5*. Until February you had the option to earn diamonds (required to unlock puzzles) by watching several ads every day. Since February 1st this option is no longer available. It may have been moved but if so I cannot find it. Where it used to be on the daily puzzle page there is now a useless bit of info. Without diamonds it is impossible to open puzzles. You can earn them but only by completing puzzle challenges. I am sure that this change is just to make you buy a subscription or buy diamonds with real money. This app has dropped from 5 starts to 2 in my opinion. It is a great layout and was lots of fun before the change. Please stop being greedy and bring back the option to earn diamonds and coins.
