*** AS FEATURED IN THE OCTOBER 2015 EDITION OF THE LINKING RING *** The newest addition to The Ultimate Memorized Deck apps, this new and improved version now allows full customizability. It comes pre-loaded with Mnemonica or you can input your own stack! What is new with The Ultimate Stack Trainer? - Customize your stack - Improved performance and bug fixes - Responsive design to fit any or all of your devices - Coming soon: sync your progress across multiple devices WHY THIS STACK TRAINER APP? I’ve been searching for the perfect Stack Trainer app for a long time, something that was engaging, made me want to learn, and something that actually worked. So, after wasting time and money on other apps I decided to make my own, built with everything I wanted that the other apps simply did not provide. FUN AND ADDICTING The Ultimate Stack Trainer is not actually a “trainer”… it is a game. I realized I liked playing games like Candy Crush and Dots, and if I could make learning the order of a deck of cards as addicting as these games I would be more likely to stick with it. You start out on Level 1 which presents you with a card, 4 possible answers as to what number in the stack the card is, 3 lives, and 30 seconds. Each time you match the card with the correct number you get a point. (As you go on to different levels the questions change format... read below) 10 Points to move to the next level and you get 1 star 13 Points is 2 stars 16 Points is 3 stars LEARNING IN CHUNKS The game is broken up into 7 stages with 8 levels each: Stage 1: Cards 1- 13 Stage 2: Cards 14-26 Stage 3: Cards 1- 26 Stage 4: Cards 27-39 Stage 5: Cards 39- 52 Stage 6: Cards 27-52 Stage 6: Cards 1-52 This is because breaking a stack into bite sized chunks will maximize your ability to learn it quickly and retain the knowledge. MIX UP LEARNING METHODS Each stage has 8 levels, each with a different way to learn the stack. When you mix up how to learn this accomplishes two things… 1. It keeps you interested 2. It prepares you for real world situations LEVELS 1, 2, AND 3: THE BASICS These are the basic “what card is what number” and “what number is what card” multiple choice questions. If you get an answer wrong it will show you what the right answer is. Using this method you should be able to memorize each set in about 15-20 minutes. These levels are perfect for learning the basics. LEVELS 4, 5, AND 6: WHAT COMES BEFORE AND WHAT COMES AFTER Other trainers gave you the option to choose what number is what card and what card is what number… In real world scenarios you need to know what comes after and what comes before a card on the bottom or the top of the deck. So Three levels are dedicated to just having you answer what comes next or what comes before. These levels are perfect for cementing the basics and improving speed. LEVEL 7: NO MORE MULTIPLE CHOICE At this point our minds start to get used to multiple choice. In the real world there we do not get 4 options to choose from, we have to KNOW what number the card is. On this level you there is no multiple choice, you type in the number the card shown is. LEVEL 8: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER Level 8 mixes all of the techniques together to test your mastery of the stage. MASTER YOUR STACK If you get 3 stars on every level, I guarantee that you will have mastered your stack to the point where you don’t even have to think “what number is this card” or “what is after the 3 of hearts” when you are performing in the real world. You will just know… Please rate the app and post any feedback to our website! Great for any Magician looking to learn Mnemonica, Aronson, Si Stebbins, Osterlind, 8 Kings, Joyal, or any other stack imaginable.

I use a memory place for difficult memorization tasks, and this complements that perfectly for me. While it doesn’t have any story cards for the palace, it’s the best way I’ve tried to actually test my recall response times. Only improvement I’d make is the ability to keep multiple stacks or at least name them. Great app!

Using this I’m 3/4 of the way through learning the whole stack after just a couple of days. It would have taken weeks to do this on my own! One tiny bug I found; 4S (40th card) shows up in the 27-39 block. This is totally minor and doesn’t really make it meaningfully harder but worth fixing for fit and finish.

I've tried numerous stack trainer apps, and this one eclipses them all! The fun gameification of it combined with the sensible progression through each portion of the deck makes it not only useful, but fun! Add in the fact that you can customize it to any stack, and this is a real winner!

Best Stack app currently on the market for magicians. Several different testing modes and stack is customizable to whatever you want. Easy to use and simple interface.

I've always wanted to learn a stack and have gone back and forth on which one for a while. This app is my favorite iteration because it can work with any stack I want, which means I can tweak an existing one, use my own, input a classic, or try our someone's brand new zany idea. My main concern right now is that while I love being able to swap stacks, I have decided to run with the Aronson stack for now. This particular version of the app starts with the Tamariz or Mnemonica stack. That would not be as big of a deal, except that I had to enter my stack of choice by hand. That makes total sense and the method is fine for user-created or rare stacks, but I don't see any reason why the top two or three shouldn't be selectable options out of the gate. The best possible solution would be to let us save more than one stack so that we can select different stacks and jump around. On top of that, it should stick with Tamariz as the default, but come with Aronson as a second save file that I could then load up really fast. Tamariz is the most popular in Europe, but Aronson has a stronger hold in the US. He BCS would be a decent third preset. Having to enter it more than once (for my iPad) is going to be very tedious. I love the upcoming idea of syncing between devices, but presets would go a long way. If this isn't possible, make it so that when I buy the Aronson stack app, I actually get this same exact app but with a different starting stack. There's no reason to sell the old, locked in ones at all. Just load them up with different stacks if you still want additional titles in the store or don't want to risk hurting older purchasers. I'm sure everyone would love the update As to what I love - for the first time ever I think I finally have he ability to learn a stack. Making it into a game that plays off of the existing addictive nature of such techniques is a brilliant solution to make this process less tedious. For the first time I think I can keep this process up. The other fantastic feature is that it utilizes multiple methods for learning the stack such as by card and number positions. I'm not sure other hand memory techniques will work for me, but I do know when I was trying to work by hand, I was really only learning to recall by the number, not the card. The method used in this app ensures instant recall regardless of which way on going. Chunking them up is also brilliant and useful. In other systems the instant speed recall comes as an after effect of learning rooms and paths or journeys or associations. This game method means I'm already learning instant recall. Great job. I have it four out of five stars because it was tedious entering in my own stack from the start. It made the initial startup experience a bummer. I could have bought the other app, but then I would have had to spend more money to change the stack later. I recognize that one was cheaper, but my suggestions above would make this app A TEN. Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestions and feedback. Good luck to everyone on their quest to learn a stack!
