User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
The latest incarnation was meant to resolve the many old problems, but instead it introduces a whole load more problems. If I was to list everything wrong, it would require infinite scroll, but briefly at very least the app should allow classes and events to be easily booked or cancelled without forgetting previous settings/filters, not changing class date mid way through booking or cancelling, showing the correct class date and not the booking date - basic things that there is no excuse not to be working - was the UX ever tested let alone designed ? Even simple things like showing class Day (lost on old app due to a class/activity data cleanup that removed anything useful about the class like fundamentals such as difference between aquafit [shallow end] and aquajog [deep end with floatation belts]) have gone or showing verbose class info meaning you have to scroll through pages and pages of classes - filters do not work properly otherwise would be a work around for this. I’m digressing, too many problems to list and most importantly, too easy to make a mistake in the booking process - make sure you triple check your upcoming events - shame it insists on showing your expired events by default so even that is not straight forward. One recommended book for the developers - Steve Krug - Don’t make me think - read it and understand how flawed this app is.
(Review of the previous app below) I had high hopes for the new version of this app but unfortunately it has a whole world of its own problems as compared to the old one. While it looks more modern, it’s still highly unusable, and multiple sections won’t load/only load partly when trying to access them. Overall it’s too heavy and over complicated. Just make a simple app for booking and viewing classes, without all the extra fluff. Highly frustrating. For a company of this size it’s actually shocking how poor this app is. I’ve been a member at other gyms whose apps are far better than this, so it shouldn’t be that hard! It’s not user friendly or intuitive at all and seems to send you around in circles more often that not. Extremely inconvenient system for booking classes, and half the time doesn’t even “remember” where I’m a member!
The majority of these reviews are completely slating this app and I honestly can’t understand why. I’ve been using this app for a little while now and it works fine, it’s functional and informative. You can find tailored workouts to follow whilst at the gym, track MOVEs and see your activity/where you sit on the leaderboard. You can also connect a fitness device, such as a Fitbit, which will sync with the Places App and accurately calculate your MOVEs and your place on the leaderboard. I find the leaderboard useful as it allows me to compete against other members to be more active. You can also join challenges to help you on your fitness journey. I can’t understand why this app has such a low rating as it’s honestly a good and functional app.
Only had the app 24 hours but it's easy to book classes and I like the moves feature - although not a usual measurable unit it still gives you a goal and converts to kcal burnt if you add your height and weight. I like the leaderboard too - another motivator to get moving! Disappointed you have to manually add your classes though, would have expected it to sync automatically with your membership account. Also disappointed to find that some classes offered at the centre are not on the list of workouts so can't be added. I'll just have to choose the closest thing I guess. As it's a new app I'm hoping there will be regular updates with improvements.
I find it so easy to book (and cancel) classes using this app! The layout of the app is very good and all the information is extremely helpful. The app can have the occasional blip and slow, buffering moment but on the whole, it generally runs very efficiently! The only improvement I would suggest is when the classes are fully booked, there should be an option to notify you when a place becomes available like the David Lloyd app. This would be extremely useful as I don't always have time to keep checking to see if there's been a cancellation! Overall, will continue using this app as I find it very quick and easy to use!
