User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
Park run is an amazing idea to bring people together. I love how it is accessible for everyone. As a visually impaired/ blind person i find it good that i can take part by having a guide runner. The only problem i have when using the app is that it doesn’t work effectively with my screen reader especially with reading the menus on the opening screen once you login. It does read some information but not all. I would find the app a useful tool to use as i can track my progress and see what events are coming up. Also i can see my friends progress as well. As i red in the last review it would be good if you could login with touch or face ID, as it would be a lot easier.. Also another good idea would be to have your barcode within the app as it would be a lot easier than having it on a piece of paper that could get lost. I understand that the scanners are unable to read a barcode off a screen but a lot of services like train companies are using scanners and electronic barcodes. It would be a lot easier as everything would be in one place.
First - let me say this review does not reflect my opinions about Parkrun itself - a wonderful, life-changing organisation. The app has such potential to add an additional dimension of fun to participants’ experience. For the most part, it succeeds in doing this. However, it would benefit from greater stability (I had to re-install just this week), an alternative means of logging in (fingerprint ID would be great) and the ability to sort and filter the results as one can on the main website. I for one would happily pay for the app if doing so gives runners a better overall experience that encourages them to continue on their Parkrun journey.
I like the app and ability to add friends to see how others are doing easily. BUT results are not in date order so takes a lot of scrolling and if you lucky you might spot this weeks midway through a list of a couple of hundred other results. If you filter by year, only a small selection of years are available, and that doesn’t include this year or last or the year before. No ability to filter an event by team name. Nice idea, fairly good clear layout, but unless you have only got a handful of results to your name, completely useless as the data has just been dumped, unsorted, and the app gives you no means to sort it yourself.
Park Run is brilliant and a great idea although it's a pity all runs are at the same time if there are 3 or 4 in the same city. Even the British Army had a Park Run in Afghanistan when Op Herrick was taking place, it's a pity that Park Run organisers don't try to use the old airfields that most army regiments are based on these days thus utilising these perfect locations for running and another way for the local community and military working together. However that said this app is terrible every Saturday I run at the park run and after run I have to delete and re-download this app and even then sometimes it still does not working. I hate a admit maybe if there was a one off fee say to help improve the app so it stops crashing, I really don't know but something needs to be done.
What an excellent idea Park Run is!! I've really enjoyed the motivation of running with others and being able to compare my times with friends or against previous times using the app... that is until the app started to crash, constantly. It seems to stay in memory but won't stay open on my phones screen, so I can't use it presently. I've read that some people have resorted to deleting the app and reinstalling it but I think if Park Run is to continue to grow I think it would benefit from a stable app with continuing development (optional alerts for nearby runs when you're in a new place for example). Perhaps there should be an identical paid for version of the app for those who want to contribute towards development?
