User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
Visually, there are some improvements, but the UX is frustrating. I think the biggest improvement is the ability to see how many are waiting from the list vs needing to tap on each class. But as others have said, the lack of being able to add multiple classes is a miss. It also feels harder to navigate multiple studios and the day/hour scroller vs a month calendar makes it harder to schedule the whole month. I also noticed that if you’re not unlimited (ie I have 8/month) and only have one credit remaining, if book a class and then cancel, you can’t immediately book another class. The app tells you you have no credits remaining. They even put this in the new release notes that it could take hours to credit back. Hours? The old app never had this issue. This is very frustrating, especially when your schedule changes and you need to move a class. Finally, I’ll also say I miss the graph from the OT beats app. It’s not necessarily a make-or-break feature, but it helps track how quickly I recover. Sure, I could try to use the online studio login, but that has its own issues... currently, I’m seeing other people’s workouts in my feed.
Need native dev and experience. It looks prettier, but it’s still just a poorly built web app. For two weeks in a row I could not book a session in this app. I reinstalled the old app and I can book sessions just fine in that one. I really really really dislike that this app notifies me to update it. Anyone who knows iOS development knows that applications are set to update automatically through the App Store. I should never have a developer telling me to update their app. What irks me even more about this is that I will get an alert from the app that I need to update. When it, in fact, I am already on the newest version. That’s just plain not smart. Also, the old app supported Face ID but the new one does not? That makes no sense to me. Just about every week this app forces me to log out, I can’t remember which password is which because I’ve had to reset it so many times and have multiple logins to your multiple websites. Since the app doesn’t fully support login keychain and Face ID is not supported it’s a nightmare each time. Just make your app work, don’t break my login, and make a native iOS app. I love the experience of working out at Orange theory, but this application is absolutely terrible. You need to hire some people who know iOS and can build a really great app experience. This is awful.
There are still significant issues with the app that remain unresolved. One being that if you have a membership and a class package, the app draws from the class package instead of the membership. I had to take a list of classes to the studio and they scheduled me, but that means none of the classes are on my calendar, which is a benefit of using the app. Second, they still haven’t figured out how a user can schedule classes before a new billing cycle begins. This is a real problem if you use a studio where classes fill quickly (which I assume is the goal for all studios). If your billing cycle ends on the 14th, you can’t book a class for the 15th until the 15th rolls around unless you buy a class package (see issue one above). This is ridiculous since all studios you visit require your credit card to be on file. You want a 5 am class on the first day of your billing cycle? Not going to happen unless you beg the studio, buy a separate class package, or hope the class you want isn’t booked. I enjoy the workouts but the app issues are ridiculous. I was told that “corporate is taking this very seriously” but the new version they roles out is still flawed. We need a better user experience if you are going to place so much emphasis on class scheduling through the app.
I would give zero stars if I could. This app has been a complete frustration and headache for me. This app alone has made me want to cancel my OTF membership entirely. Every time I am signed up for a class and need to remove myself from a class (hours and even days before the 8 hour cancellation deadline) the class is removed from my app but apparently never updates my studios schedule. I have been charged $12 FIVE times just this month for a late cancel/no show even though I made the change in my app!!! I am beyond frustrated. My studio has worked with me and refunded me but didn’t believe me and suggested that I was using the app incorrectly (im not a moron so this was an entirely different frustration). They have now requested that I take a screenshot every time I made a change (as evidence that I am not lying!?) AND I have to send the studio a text message to verify my cancellation - I should not have to do that!! It is completely inconvenient and a waste of my time and the employees time. I will probably cancel my membership of this isn’t fixed in the next month. I can’t deal with the frustration any longer.
I like OTF, very much enjoy the classes, and am sad that the class employs such a bad app. I have signed up for a monthly membership and after signing out and back into the app, deleting app and reinstalling, entering credit card info I still have to call in to sign up for all my classes because it says I don’t have any classes. It also shows a late cancel when I cancel over 12 hours in advance, and shows a late cancel when I call in and change a class a couple days in advance. I have asked my studio and they have no answers for either of these issues. But it defeats the purpose of having an app to do these things when it doesn’t work. Because the app doesn’t do any of these things I can’t sign up or cancel or reschedule a class unless the studio is open. Very inconvenient when you want to sign up on weekends or last minute. I would think there would also be some help on their site but no, there’s no where to ask for help or get this fixed. So 1 star review is all I can do and hopefully they can get this fixed. Disappointing because the classes are so good.
