I love Mike's Macros. I tried the big name tracker apps and this one is by far the easiest, simplest, cleanest, most accurate one. That being said, with a few improvements, it could be incredible. It just lacks a bit of user-friendliness. Saving meals for later is such a great feature, but once you start saving a bunch of things, that list becomes unruly. It would be great to be able to organize saved meals into folders and to be able to drag and drop the order within the folders and the order of the folders themselves. Same for “my day” - I’d love to be able to drag and drop things into the order in which I’ll consume them after I build my day, maybe even check them off as I go so I can see what I still have ahead for my day. I’ve been using the app on and off for over a year and I haven’t seen any big updates so I’m not holding my breath for any of these changes, and I know it took a lot for Mike to develop this app, but if there’s any overhaul on the horizon, I’d love to see a few tweaks to improve the user experience.
This App has all you really need to be 100% in charge on your diet. It’s Simple to use and has a very pretty minimalistic interface. There are no fancy graphs or colorful charts in this one, but you know at a glance how your day is going. It allows to create custom meals and has “quick add” option to really track everything you eat. It gives you the possibility to split macro goals into Rest/Training Day (So useful), a small but very accurate food database, Spot on Macro Calculator and it’s actually free: No Advertising, No Upsells, No Spam. This is really good!
I had used this on and off before the food database was added and it was well thought out but just a lot of work entering my macros for the day. Adding the food database (which isn’t muddied up with user entries) has made this a thousand times easier. I even found an entry for crepes by diameter. I’m a single working mom so spending the time to calculate the exact macros in my homemade crepe recipe just isn’t going to happen most days. Thanks Mike! This warrants my first app review.
I've been using this app for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. It has almost everything that I want and nothing that I don't. One of the best features is that the food database that is already installed is minimal. Other apps have so many duplicates of the same food, it becomes impossible to locate what you want when you want it. It's easy enough to add my own food. This app just tracks the macros too, which is all I wanted.
I like how straight forward and easy to use the app is. Just type in the grams of each macro you're eating, and it does all the basic calculations for you. The food database may not be as big as the one from myfitnesspal or others, but I have no problem hunting the nutrition facts of certain food items on the internet. I eat vegetables that happen to have an Asian origin, so the food database doesn't cover them.
