See more dataPlay any synth or virtual instrument with your trusted guitar. ##### Lots of user videos: jamorigin.com ##### MIDI Guitar is the World’s first app to transcribe guitar playing into MIDI in real-time, with latency and accuracy comparable to expensive and inconvenient hardware MIDI guitar solutions. MIDI Guitar is over 10 years in development(!) and based upon state-of-the-art polyphonic pitch detection and –prediction technology that can accurately recognize guitar playing and -articulation with very low latency and without spurious hits. The technology has been validated by thousands of guitarists over the years. MIDI Guitar comes as AudioUnit plugin (AUv3) and as a standalone app which can host other iOS synth apps or send virtual midi to Garageband or other DAWs. You need a guitar interface for best results. We recommend a digital interface (using the lightning connector) over analog (via headphone jack), preferably with input gain control. Using an acoustic guitar with the built in microphone works for some purposes but is not optimal. The free version will interrupt every few minutes, asking you to buy an in-app purchase. If you have problems please refer to the website: www.jamorigin.com/docs or the user forum: jamosapien.com.
User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
I love plugging my iRig HD into my iPhone 6s and using midi guitar to trigger Sample tank, Sound canvas, Thumb jam and Garage band. I'm amazed with the tracking and the settings you can adjust such as velocity and pitch that allow for musical performances. Single lines and chords track very well although another review mentioned the issue of not being able to detect and sustain more than 4 pitches simultaneous and I have noticed issues along these lines. The one definite draw back I've noticed is it's inability to sustain minor 2nd intervals reliably whether embedded within a larger chord form or simply the interval it self. Once this has been addressed and resolved I'll see no reason to use any other hardware product. In the meantime it sure is fun to use and is a very inspirational tool.
I’ve been playing around with this app for a few years now. More as a fun curiosity. Had it on stage a couple of times but things were getting too cluttered with the phone rigged up with MIDI Guitar 2 and pedals. Was looking more at trying to slim down all the wiring on stage. I just discovered all that’s under the hood in this app today. I can actually get rid of all my pedals (except one) and use MG2 exclusively. It’s equipped with all the effects I normally use in pedal form. Plus all the virtual instruments I want to use - so no other app is necessary. I already thought this was a well above the mark app, but now.....! This plus the Omec Teleport and l’m totally set. You can set presets in the app for all the sounds + effects combos you use. So easy to get a setup you like, then save it and recall when you need it. Thank you so much. This is truly the best note to MIDI converter setup ever devised. Either the tracking has gotten better over the past year or I’m getting better at playing through a MIDI converter. I can barely hear the latency. Sounds more like a slight quick single hit delay effect (quick slapback) - which I normally use anyway. Soooo awesooooome!!!
Like many who are proficient at an instrument learning to master another has its challenges. Starting from scratch on a keyboard when I can easily play a song on my guitar gets boring. Quick. And though I can use a keyboard recording in real time is difficult at best. Throw in the fact I own many apps with tablature and few with piano notes this was the app for me. Now when I need that quick sax or flute. There it is. All I gotta do is what I do. Play guitar. As far as some reviews saying the chords sometimes sound muddy. I play the chords as if I’m playing a keyboard. I.e. I pluck the three (or more) strings that make up the chord. Not strum all six guitar strings. Really great app. Easy to use. Thinking of buying the computer version at some point. Good job developer.
I imagine you could pick out certain little things of this and that about any app that could use some tweaking .....but these guys are so quick to respond to any inquiry..... them personally via email or even just put it out on the forum where you can get quick responses..... each update is massive so far and so stinking cool I’ve been a guitar player for over 20 years playing music touring tons of things never had this much fun playing music period....this app totally re-spark my interest and love for Guitar.... As well their desktop app is amazing and worth every penny and I’ve only scratched the surface of this I could go on anon but just buy the app
I have used Guitar to MIDI products for years, including hex pickups and complicated pitch to voltage converters. The fact that this product tracks as well as it does is nothing short of astonishing to me. It tracks many complex chords and fingerpicking without glitching on my setup. You do need to turn the sensitivity way down to get this, otherwise you get tons of ghost notes and mistriggers. To the app maker: in addition to adding Audiobus compatibility and other future features you mention, keep refining your latency, pitch detection, and core capabilities. You are at the head of the pack, don’t give up your lead position.
