“Malawi Kwacha” has been designed by the Reserve Bank of Malawi to introduce the Kwacha banknotes in circulation and allows users to discover their security feature in an interactive way. The app explains in an easy-to-follow way how to distinguish genuine Kwacha banknotes from counterfeit ones including tilting the banknote, holding it against light, rubbing over its surface and observing it with a magnifier glass or under UV light. The application allows the user to scan a visual image of the 2000 Kwacha banknote using the smartphone camera and displays additional animations of the symbols represented on the banknote using the Augmented Reality technology.
