User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
I never thought of writing this but maybe it will help someone. I like that this platform has grown to what it is now because I can find out about nearby locations and events just by scrolling through photos or following businesses' pages. Convenient. Informative through pictures. Easy to navigate. Overall pretty stress free for savvy users like me. So I've used this app for about 4 years or more. I haven't come across any problems with this app until this year and they're fairly minimal issues with consideration that the app mainly works well. However, this one I've come across this time is a little bigger. I can't reply to stories even though fellow users have not turned off the option for people to reply. The "send message" box is there but I cannot select it to reply. I'd like this issue to be fixed primarily because I like to reply to stories. Second one, which I never understood why--you folks took away the option for people on mobile to press ENTER to add a new line of text in the profile bios. This is a little annoying for me because I do not use Instagram on a computer. However, because it is for a bio, people do not change it that often. I can wait on this one. Upgraded my phone to the latest so I can continue to enjoy using my apps like this one.
My previous review from many years ago is below. Instagram took away the custom locations feature but made it so that if you “registered” your location on Facebook, then it would be available on IG. So I did this and it works ok, but twice now, an update comes through that removes my location from IG. It’s still there on FB and I can even check in and post to it. But it’s no longer on IG. The first time I registered the location again (which resulted in 2 of the same locations on FB). This time I’m not going to bother. I’m tired of IG messing with my location. In fact, I’m tired of IG all together. I think I’ll just go back to not using it. As you can see by other reviewers, the ability to add custom locations was very important to many of us!! You took away the ability to add permanent locations with FourSquare - and now we can't add custom ones either?!? But all the lame crap locations that were loaded in there as permanent, are still there! I really don't care about searching by location. I just want to be able to post my picture and put whatever funny custom location I want to in the location area. Why did you change it? Have you ever heard of the term, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Please stop giving us these "exciting new updates" that we don't want! When the ability to add custom locations comes back I will change my rating. Until then I will not being using Instagram.
I LOVE THIS APP and go on it almost every day but recently my saved posts haven’t been showing up. I try going to my saved posts but it says there’s a problem and it gives me the option to refresh, however when I do refresh it, it doesn’t do anything. It just blinks white for a few seconds, then goes back to saying there’s a problem and once again giving me the option to refresh. This also happens when I go to some popular profiles that I happen to follow. I have no issues seeing their stories, however when I click to go to their main page (still on Instagram) it tells me there’s a problem and it gives me the option to refresh. I’ve tried clearing out my Instagram and shutting down and restarting my phone in an attempt to clear this problem up, but nothing has worked and it keeps doing the same thing over and over. This is a real problem for me. Half the reason I have Instagram is so I can view my saved videos/pictures (makeup tutorials, edits, fun fact pics, etc) and look at the profiles that I follow to see at their homepage and their content. I downloaded the recent Instagram update in hopes that you had realized this issue and cleared it up in the update but the update did NOTHING to fix this problem. PLEASE fix the problem so that I can continue to enjoy Instagram, otherwise there would LITERALLY be no point in me continuing to keep Instagram downloaded and taking up space on my phone. Thank you.
I normally wouldn’t be doing this, I need to say this right now. Instagram, you have a great app, a good look, etc. The one problem I have with you is that I can’t stop videos from playing automatically. The one feature you have when it comes to your website on a desktop or laptop, you don’t have it on your mobile versions; I’m disappointed. I try to go and stop this from happening when I use cellular instead of WiFi and it turns out that the video still plays automatically. Why? I lose more data when the video plays automatically let alone even loading the thumbnail of a video. The “Use Less Data” feature doesn’t work, at all. About a few versions ago or at least back in August or early September, the feature worked and I didn’t really need to be that concerned. But I can’t use a feature that won’t work. I have tried everything, turning on and off my phone, updated the app, and even deleted it and reinstalled it. I tried googling why it won’t work but there wasn’t any result that showed how to fix this stupid problem. I’m pretty sure there were other people that were experienced this because googling a topic and having shown something in the search bar as a top result shows that people have been googling a specific topic. But no result. So please can you fix this because this is a problem I’m not going to deal with anymore.
I’ve never had that big of a problem with Instagram. The algorithm has been a bit annoying but it’s nothing that has ever physically annoyed me. But I just saw the update for “filtering out any bullying comments”. First of all, I agree with the whole message of not bullying children or harassment of children online. That’s not ok. However, filtering out comments involving bullying and such doesn’t make sense due to the fact that half of the time people are just joking. Secondly, you are restricting people’s rights to speak their minds. This site/app should be a place where people should be allowed to say and post whatever they please, regardless of whether it’s right or wrong. There are of course boundaries but it is very difficult to set those boundaries online. I feel like restricting “bullying” comments will just cause more problems within the instagram community. Because there is no way to tell a person’s real intentions on whatever they say online. You just can’t. It’s near impossible. Restricting someone’s thoughts on an app/site is not a way to stop online bullying or harassment. I understand that cyber bullying is very wrong and very uncalled for, however restricting any comments involving the context “bullying” isn’t going to solve a lot. There are other ways to prevent/promote non-bullying behavior on websites. Filtering out comments is not a way to go about the situation.
