The good: different if you like and have played all the escape games. I like how many puzzles there are in each level - makes it more challenging to see where things fit together. Some of the puzzles are complex - not for kiddos! The bad: would be nice if your progress was saved since the levels are so long. Basic graphics. Couldn't see how to scroll to get to all my inventory at first (there's a bar on the left side.) Too many pop ups to review their game - hence this review.
There are so many reasons not to like this game. The graphics look like they were drawn by a child. The scenes are far too dark. I am unable to scroll up or down to get to my inventory. I have solved the puzzles and see where I need inventory items to complete those puzzles. Too bad! I cannot get to my inventory when only three of the many items are visible and accessible. And then there are the constant interruptions: to rate their game, to share your game with a friend or to choose to return to the Apple Store to install another one of their games. It's annoying to be required to rate the game simply to get the walk-through. And the most aggravating, when it asks me if I want to return to the Apple Store to install another one of their games, I always click "No." Yet, despite clicking "No," it takes me back to the Apple Store and opens that game title anyway. It doesn't matter if you click "Yes" or "No" you are going back to the Apple Store and good luck if your game gets saved. It's a toss-up on that one. Obviously, I do not recommend this game.
I am using an iPad and I had no problems with the clues working. I had trouble a few times making a relevant connection between the hint and execution. For instance, I needed help figuring out that the up and down switch positions were related to the button order on the side of the boiler(?). Other than the couple of times I couldn't make a connection, I loved it. It is more involved than the others. It would be nice to save your place as the game is lengthy.
...but now I'm frustrated. I cannot tell what some of the objects I pick up are. Like I just picked up this white object that looks kinda like a brush but I'm not sure... I can't figure out why I have to do what I do, like why I had to soil the chair with a substance that I am not sure what it is or what to do with the chair now. I want to clean it with the brush or towel but cannot. I found two crochet balls (or whatever they are supposed to be) and see the last one in the clock that is unattainable. I have put the two crochet balls in the dark frame for no reason. Sigh...
So this actually seems like it *could* be a decent game... Graphics are meh, the lack of sound is disorienting, and it’s kind of a guessing game as to what half the inventory items are (labels might help, guys). But it’s challenging, and I wanted to pursue it. However! Any time I tap anything outside of the game screen- I mean ANYTHING - I get an ad. Or a redirect to their newest (NOT free) release download page. So don’t tap outside the game screen, u say. Well, the layout is a bit user unfriendly, and at first I was seeking a settings icon. The next time I was trying to access my inventory. Once I meant to pause the game. Yet another time, an invitation popped up to their newest game *just*as I was clicking on something else. So I was redirected. No big. Just go back to the game, u say. Well, I’d love to. But if u redirect in just about any way - I mean ANY way- your progress is not saved. You get to start allll ooooover agaaaaain. Sorry. Even for a free game, our time is worth more than this. They should pay YOU to play this.
