I enjoyed this game on the ps3, and was glad to see it for mobile. It’s true to my memory of that game, which is great. What’s not so great is the requirement to access the camera, which isn’t strictly necessary for playability. Just display a random background instead of some pseudo psychedelic variation of the camera view. Suggest the camera feature, but leave it an option. I’m dinging two stars for this alone. Also, the post-level resource tally takes much too long. Let me skip that please. I’d like to see some harder levels too. I don’t use any of the spice enhancements because the goal is readily found without needing them. More options for endless play too. Maybe track more stats to allow personal improvement.
Unfortunately, I played and loved the console version of this game. I feel this game retains all the great things about the original while injecting the primary play of the game with a new element - stress. Being able to fail gardens ruins the chill atmosphere created by the brilliant art, sound design, and gameplay. On the console, I didn’t mind the timer because I could always come back and find the spectra, whereas in this game you have 5 tries and that’s all you get. You can continue playing in a different mode, but playing through levels I have failed is completely unsatisfying. The play mechanics are awesome, the sound is awesome, the visuals are awesome, the structure of the game ruins the mood so excellently established by everything else.
I’m not usually into app gaming too much, but I was curious ever since I heard PixelJunk was bringing Eden to mobile. I’d never played the original Eden, but I didn’t have to to completely love and learn this game. Super addicting, AMAZING soundtrack, and the visuals and physics are stellar. Even the boot-up screen makes the app feel more refined and professional than most other apps I’ve played, and that refinement never ends. Great job, and can’t wait for Monsters on mobile ;)
The previous bugs seem to have all been fixed by the most recent updates. This is a superb game - very well crafted. I used to play this on PS3 and it has been adapted here for iOS, quite nicely. I would even say that some depth has been added to the game by the introduction of the various “spices” that provide special temporary upgrades and special abilities.
Wonderful game..different. I’m surprised there are not more reviews. Not sure about the camera being essential. I play with the camera and without it. One of my tablets has a cover that can block the camera and it has no problems.
