This app worked flawlessly for me during the 2012 Dakar so I am very excited to see it back for 2013. All the essentials are there. Invaluable for following a race like this. Coupled with local radio coverage you're all set. Superb design, really good work from ASO (think TdF next?).
Great amount of info but doesn't prioritize the race, and what's happening or happened! There should be a 'breaking news' or 'latest developments' section to easily get to the important stuff without having to wade through masses of other info trying to find out what's happening in the race, like why driverX who was 2nd yesterday is now out the top 10?? Why no stage summaries for each completes stage?? So we can see what main things happened in that stage??!!
I appreciate all the details that might be available if perhaps they were intuitive or had any memory to them from screen to screen. I faithfully watch the Dakar each new year hoping that this year might be the one the mobile app is decent and I can actually watch or easily follow the race. There are so many renaming and sub groups it’s just generally terrible to decipher. Please keep me as a fan by doing better next year!
This is my third dakar with the app and it has some definite draw backs this time around more than other years. Over all standings are not updated. News is not updated. interviews are posted but only with photos (not names) that are difficult to recognize, especially since I only see the competitors 15 days a year and only a few are on that every day.
The commercial screen comes at random while you are reading something then you can’t close it because there is no button for it. Poorly organized. Don’t why is so hard to present simple information on the up. The Dakar rally has been going for many years and the app is worse and worse every year instead of improving it. Bad pictures, no informara out the different teams, the cars.
